I read this and HAD to post it because it was pretty unbelievable to me. Duck Dynasty‘s season three premiere beat every half-hour broadcast on Wednesday night (including Modern Family), and even beat out the first half-hour of Idol in the key demo. They had 8.6 million total viewers with five million in the demo. They’re up 127% from last year’s premiere. How INSANE is that??? I’m obsessed and honestly couldn’t be happier for them. Well done! Sorry, Morrissey…but they’re here to stay!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I don’t know what a Duck Dynasty is, but I can tell you that this season of American Idol is like watching your mother trying to breakdance at your nephew’s bar mitzvah. And Modern Family has never been funny but only got attention because of the gay family thing. So welcome to the state of television in 2013. Where’s Carol Burnette when you need her?

Not surprised at all. Everyone I know watches this show. Hell, its one of the few shows Mr. McSnarkle and I agree on, and our taste in television shows is as different as Duck Dynasty and Toddlers and Tiaras.

I must say this news makes me “happy happy happy” … my sister got me hooked on this show. I have not enjoyed a scripted reality tv comedy since Rob & Big.

The one liners on this show are classic … Not sure why it tickled me like it did but I rewind the section of the show when Jase and Uncle Si was going on about Willie’s idea of “ruffing it”

“Willie’s idea of roughing it is changing the comfort setting on his sleep number bed”

Okay, so what is this show? Why is it a “scripted” reality show?

I like this show, too, and am glad to see they’re getting big numbers. Not like they need the money, though.

Hey. Let’s hear it for the rednecks. Hey. Their video response to Morrissey’s bullshit was priceless. Hey. I raise my blue plastic Tupperware iced tea glass to the fabulous Duck dudes! Hey.

@Itchy, Duck Dynasty is on the A&E network. It’s about a “redneck” family that made a fortune on something called duck calling, I think. They script the situations on the show, like where they had a race car driver race the brothers or where the “menfolk” and the “womenfolk” compete in a cooking competition. I’ve tried to watch this show, but it sucks and doesn’t seem to fit the A&E model to me, as I am an addict for “The First 48,” “Storage Wars,” and “Storage Wars: Texas.” Itchy, google Jenny Grumbles and let me know if she’s your “type.”

They make duck calls (some basic ones and some beautiful high-end ones).

Derek–I assume you also know the producers of the storage shows “salt” them with interesting things for them to find. Otherwise they’d just find boring shit like in my storage unit…

Everyone agrees with me. They just don’t know it yet.

As for Jenny Grumbles : Hee hah!

But I specialize in competitive reality shows. Sigh. I still miss Rock of Love. Sigh.

@Tracy, Yes, I heard that it’s staged, but I thought that was only the original one, not the TX one. I like SW:TX better, mainly because each of the bidders seems to have a niche and they’re not trying to “bid each other up.” I’m not surprised that it’s a scam. At least on The First 48, the victims are actually dead!

@Itchy, for some reason, I really have a crush on Jenny. Weird, I know!

    @Itchy, ha!

@Derek, I like The First 48 too! As bad as it sounds I laugh when I see those detectives and I think “are they trying to be like Law and Order, or is the other way around?” Really, there’s a Memphis female detective who goes to the crime scenes wearing high heels, very stylish!

Someone might have already stated this, so please forgive me, but I heard this episode was the most watched episode on A & E in the history of everdom.

Mountainman is awesome. Also, Jim Tom on Moonshiners! Put those 2 together with Phil and Si and you’ve got yourself a party!
