Too-Loud-1

The FCC passed an act to ban loud commercials, finally!!!!! They said in a statement, “The FCC today took a major step toward eliminating one of the most persistent problems of the television age -– loud commercials.”

The new act is called Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act (CALM), and it’s going to rock my world. The new act states, “requires commercials and entertainment and news programming to be kept at the same volume. The rules also require that the volume for promotional spots be equal to the shows around it.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick and tired of riding the volume button on my remote at home. It drives me NUTS! The rule won’t go into effect until next December, but at this point, I’ll take anything.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

This is excellent. And long overdue.

And if some lobby group makes Congress back off this regulation, I WILL go all insurgency on those congressional whores. There will be secret meetings. Dire mutterings. Notes will be passed. You will all be invited.

Sorry. I should have said “FCC whores”. Should have known the act wasn’t passed by Congress. The word “passed” should have clued me right in.

Children all over the U.S. are rejoicing right now, because they can finally secretly watch TV at 3am without loud commercials waking their parents. Yessss.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. It is so obnoxious to barely be able to hear the show I am watching, yet face permanent hearing loss based on the volume of the commercials.

This is a government regulation even a Tea Partier could love. The worst offender is Nickelodeon. When my kids are watching and the commercials come on they could blow you out of the room they’re so loud.
