Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s dropping Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith for season four. He’s going to make their characters graduate to keep it realistic. He told The Reporter, “(Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer) are “not going to be back at all for Season 4. You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”

My only positive note on this story: I’m glad that Ryan isn’t pulling a 90210. How old was Andrea Zuckerman by the end of the series? 46?

Now on to how I really feel: I am a little shocked that he’s dropping his most popular characters. And poor Cory, he wasn’t even given a heads up like Chris and Lea. I’m all about keeping the show fresh, but Ryan sounds like such a d*ck!

Ryan told the reporter re: Cory, “He knows he was a sophomore when the show started.” Ugh, I kind of hate Ryan!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Weren’t they ALL sophomores when the show started — Puck, Quinn, and Mercedes included?

Well duh but that’s because 90210 was nice enough to have seasons where the showed summer break…

90210 is the holy grail of teen shows.

Oh, God, please let Lea Michelle “graduate” to “Sorority Sister’s Hot, Wet Weekend, vol. 28″…. I think I already have the screenplay.

Good call on their part. I like these characters but how long can you keep them in high school, especially since they must be in their mid 20s already?

If they’re going to graduate some they have to graduate all, except maybe Brittany and Puck because…well they’re Brittany and Puck and one is likely to repeat a year and the other is likely to spend some time in jail.

But they should have been introducing new, younger, characters the last two years instead of bringing in Bieste, Sam (who they already dumped because Mercedes would have had a storyline), and Blaine, none of whom take the show beyond next season. But this is Ryan Murphy’s SOP: good idea, random, lazy, haphazard execution.

Maybe the whole series should end next Spring! Given the frenetic pace of each episode and the sheer number of dizzying issues thrown into the mix every week – teen pregnancy, bullying, gay bashing, substance abuse, death, homelessness – they should have exhausted every single possible crisis and be fresh out of ideas by about the 3rd episode next season.

Bringing in new kids for Mr Shue to bore, and Sue Sylvester to slam into lockers and throw down stairs won’t really help….and once we’re left with the “Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez” tribute episode, you know it’s time to pull the plug!

I agree, I think the whole series should wrap at the end of Season 3. I could see Puck and Brittany not graduating with the others, but I mean, I kind of figured that Tina, Artie, Mercedes, mike, Quinn, Santana etc. were all in the same year. I guess it didn’t specifically say they were, but I just assumed.

I think that they should finish with this next season and quit while they’re ahead, frankly. I hate it when shows keep going after they’ve peaked with no direction, then they’re just annoying. This show is running out of NEW DIRECTIONS (heh heh) to go in.

Quinn, Santana, and Ziezes were all nominted for Junior Prom Queen, wouldn’t that have to make them juniors as well? And anybody else that went to the Junior Prom? I mean if you’re going to have characters graduate at least be consistant…

I say go out with a bang. Win Nationals and have the bus go over a cliff on the way home. That will take care of the problem.
BTW-my daughter played on her high school varsiy softball team all four years, ending her senior year with a State Championship. It really was a goal for 4 years and Thanks Goodness it happened. it finished her 4 years with a band.. although the bus made it home…..These GLEE kids have to win Nationals.

did he think about realism when a bunch of sophomores and juniors were up for prom queen and king?

And is it typical for a sophomore to be Quarterback/Captain of the football team and for a freshman to be Head Cheerleader?

If he wanted realism, why didn’t he throw a few juniors and seniors into the mix from the first season?

If you watch Glee Project you can see how much of a tool Ryan is….

“I can write for this character” pointing at photo “I CANT write for THAT character” pointing at his victim.

    Tool.

He is just playing it up so the little person wins so he can manipulate another minority…
