Kathy Griffin has decided to stop doing her show, My Life on the D-List. She’s called it quits after six seasons. I love that show, but I get why Kathy did it, what else was there to do? She’s done it all…from doing a backdoor talk show, to getting vajazzled, to going all the way to D.C. to fight for gay rights. She’s left no corner unturned.

Kathy told People, “It was a really tough decision because I think of the D-List as pretty much my baby for the last six seasons and I also think it was really time to stop doing it. Reality is great, but I really didn’t set out to be a reality star. So now it’s time to spread my wings and show that I’m a little different than Kate Gosselin. I’m not saying better, but maybe separate myself from the pack a little bit.”

Kathy isn’t leaving Bravo just yet, she’ll be doing four comedy specials in 2011, which is awesome! As a stand-up, I admire Kathy so much as she’s always working on new material. She can crank out four comedy specials a year, while most comics are practicing the same routine for 10 years. It’s pretty damn amazing to say the least.

I’m excited to see her next special, but for now, I’ll be pouring one out for D-List.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I know, it totally sucks. I was so bummed to read. I have a feeling Bravo will figure something else with her besides her specials…they just have to!

I love Kathy Griffin! I’m sorry to see D-List go…… she always makes me laugh. I’m glad to hear about the specials though! They need a Maggie spinoff……

I loved My Life on the D-list. I could do without the long winded celebrity sighting standup schtick she does on her comedy specials, however. But I love the Maggie stories!

I was always surprised at how she seems so able to wing it with just an outline of her stage show. I was friends with a fairly well-known comic years ago and the way he built his stories and jokes needed a lot of honing, and one night I just stumbled upon what was basically a workshop for known comics at the Borders on La Cienega to test brand new material on a disinterested audience and saw Andy Kindler throw a whole lot of stuff out there to see if anything got a laugh (and he was happy that I couldn’t stop laughing at him bellowing “Felipe Alou”) so to be able to take a stage with a legal pad with bullet points on it and still be able to kill is a pretty special talent.

I’ll miss My Life on the D-List, but it really had run its course. Looking forward to the specials.

I love Kathy and will miss her show…BUT I wish to god Bravo would put her talents to use and have Kathy run the Housewives reunions! Enough with Andy Cohens verbal flailing – I want a tough and funny bitch to ask the questions for a change. And you know that no housewife will be able to just walk out during a reunion that Kathy is running.

@ohralphie, I agree. Andy already talks to them enough on WWHL, let’s see someone ask them the questions we want to hear and that doesn’t care about pacifying them.

Kathy will also be able to fill those times where Andy pauses uncomfortably long and his eyes start darting away from each other.
