It took 90210 over 10 years to get a spin-off, but Gossip Girl gets one after one season. They want to give co-star Taylor Momsen her own series or they may introduce a new character next season for the spin-off…it’s all up in the air right now, but they do know they want to set the series at a girls boarding school and they want to use the arc of Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen’s character) based on the book series, The It Girl for the spin-off.

If the series does go, it doesn’t mean it will be on the CW, but they do have right of first refusal on any Gossip Girl series…AND, I’m sure the CW wouldn’t let a spin-off go on another network when their own is struggling. Then again, this is all hear-say…so nothing has been set in stone.

I’ve been dying to read The It Girl and haven’t had the time, has anyone read it…think the spin-off is a good idea?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Actually, Kristin over at WWK debunked this rumor yesterday. Personally, I’m glad because Little J sucks and shouldn’t be getting her own show.

I agree, Jenny isn’t a good character so I doubt anyone will watch. Maybe if Georgina got her spin off =)……..i think it would be a good show. Wasn’t she sent off to boarding school on the finale?

Is Jenny supposed to be the blogger? can you tell I’m not that vested in the characters yet :)

No, to a spinoff. The story and writing are too spotty so far, from what I’ve seen. none of the actors is that strong, either. needs more time.

Thanks felicidad. I was out all day yesterday and had scheduled the post from Tuesday night. I know it’s all a rumor, but they’ve been talking about doing a show based of The It Girl for a while.

The first season of Gossip Girl had low ratings, but it was a big show for the CW, so I would be surprised if they did do a spin-off after season 2.

I’m not too invested in the show, so I could go either way…but I am dying to read “The It Girl”
