It’s already that time again!! I’m still listening to all of last year’s music. I think that means I’m old and uninformed, but I’m still voting Adele all the way!

Nice to see Kelly Clarkson get some love, as her song “Stronger” has become one of my favorite commercials. Remember when selling out was a bad thing? Now it’s just part of the art!

Also loving that Pink is here, because her new album is killer. I’ve always enjoyed her, but I never realized how beautiful her voice is. I would have heard all of this music if I just exercised more! Here’s to more musicality in 2013!

Major awards noms are below. Who’s missing?

Record of the Year: “Lonely Boy,” The Black Keys; “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” Kelly Clarkson; “We Are Young,” fun. featuring Janelle Monae; “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Gotye featuring Kimbra; “Thinkin Bout You,” Frank Ocean; “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” Taylor Swift.

Song of the Year is definitely Call me Maybe.

Record of the Year…anyone but Taylor Swift. I would pick Somebody That I Used to Know, but legitimately, anyone but Taylor could win and I’d be overjoyed.
Alot of people don’t know this, but she melts her Grammys down and uses them to make parts for her Doomsday Device.
We really need to stop supplying her with raw material for that thing.
    With her sinister self.

And Lupe Fiasco needs to win for Rap Album.
They keep on denying him and I am so tired of it. Although he has some stiff competition this year.
Anyone but Drake could win though.

Maroon 5, fun., and Mumford and Sons are all incredibly overated. Alabama Shakes? I hate their music.

I will root for Gotye (who I adore) and The Black Keys…and Kurt Elling in jazz (because I know him. He’s a nice guy in addition to being talented.)

I already people will either A) not agree with me or B) have no idea who I am talking about so please just humor me.

I think Evanescence and Lacuna Coil should have been nominated for Best Rock/Metal album. They both put out WAYYYYYY better CD’s this time around (The Open Door by Evanescence was HORRIFIC except for 3 songs and Shallow life by LC was even worse than that). Evanescence really put out their best music in years and if anything, it should cement the fact that they deserved that Grammy for 2003/2004 (can’t remember because I was stoned most of them time in college when this happened) when they won Best Hard Rock Song/Album (I can’t remember and I am too lazy for Wikipedia) and Best New Artist. I am an Evanescence freak and that travesty of a record they put out in 2005/2006 (The Open Door) would make any Evanescence freak wish that they never heard of Evanescence. So, when this came out, I was THRILLED to know that their legacy isn’t going to die on that pile of steaming dog crap.

The vocals were great (even though she is HORRIBLE live) and not auto-tuned that much, the lyrics were amazing, and the guitars were about normal but more darker and since I am more into that heavy metal music, it fits my bill.

As for Lacuna Coil, it is pretty much the same thing as with Evanescence. Shallow Life sucked balls so Dark Adrenaline was bound to be successful. DA was not as good as the album BEFORE Shallow Life (Karmacode, which SHOULD have won a Grammy) but hell, it was better lyrically and musically than most of the nominees on that list. I can understand the reasons why it was not on so I am not that upset about it.

As a P.S.-I do NOT think Evanescence is a metal band. To me, they BARELY fit hard rock. I forgot to put that caveat in before. I always got annoyed people called them metal because they are NOT.

Amy Lee is horrible live? Hmm, she always struck me as someone who it would be amazing to hear live. Like Adele or Duffy.

@sagittariouskim-Amy Lee’s voice tends to crack a lot live and she has a MUCH harder time hitting the high notes while she is on stage, more so towards the middle and end of the show. No denying that the girl has pipes and that I rather see her live than anybody else (I already met Lacuna Coil so Cristina Scabbia is off and she was great anyway) but she tends to also lose her pizzazz towards the end. It is hard to explain but watch one of her videos live (I would suggest Weight of the World as a STRONG choice or Bring Me To Life as a runner-up) and you will get what I mean. I still love Evanescence and everything but live, meh.

@Parisi — Autotune is one helluva drug.

Anyone else annoyed fun. is up for Best New Artist? I went to an album release party for fun.’s first album on my 20th birthday. I’m 23 now. They are not a new band by any stretch of the word.

Not that I don’t love them, I do love fun. But all my votes are going towards either Mumford and Sons or The Black Keys…..or Jack White….Cause Jack White always manages to put out amazing stuff.

If Ceremonials doesn’t win Best Pop Album….*sigh* That cd is still in my car’s cd player 6 months later.

But usually everything I like never wins unless they’re the Foo Fighters.

Funny that comment about Amy Lee being awful live. I saw Evanescence some years ago, and she is one of the BEST live singers I have heard. I’m sure being a classically trained musician has something to do with that.

WendyBird…no one who is up for Best New Artist just started recording this year. It’s Best Artist Who Is Finally Enjoying Success After Years Of Hard Work…but that’s too expensive to engrave on the trophy.

AutoTune was created by the Devil. And if you need Auto Tune, you shouldn’t be a recording artist.

Yes Frank Ocean has been also been out for two years, and this was his second album.

Ummm I’m sure this is a typo Flipit and I understand that mistakes are made but there is no way in the HEYELL that 2 chainZ was nominated for a Grammy. I can’t and I won’t believe it.

Are the Grammies really relevant anymore? It’s kinda like the MTV awards- used to mean something…but now it’s like they will give Grammies to some of the most undeserving performers. (Cough Call me Maybe nom? Cough… ) I didn’t even know that girl competed on Canadian Idol, then again I didn’t watch it, cuz it’s Canadian idol. Her songs after the show were really stupid though… It’s weird…she’s like a brunet Taylor Swift. .

Evanescence is good, didnt care for their new album (I am convinced Fallen is their best work to date- they need to get Ben Moody back so him and Amy Lee can write decent shit again- but that’s just me)

I haven’t listen to Lacuna Coil in sometime, so I will definitely give that a shot :)

The only album I’m looking forward to is this… http://twilight-symphony.com/
An amazing project by fellow nerds XD

Mumford and Sons incredibly overated?!? For shame!!! They are easily one of the best bands to hit the music scene in years. They make my heart smile.
