Lots of Idol news today…

First, Tonight’s American Idol show theme is “Birth Year,” and Casey Abrams will be singing Nirvana’s Teen Spirit! Wow, American Idol is expanding their music library quite nicely! I’m happy that Casey’s okay, and even happier that he’s singing Nirvana! I can’t believe that I’m actually enthusiastic about watching Idol again. And I sincerely can’t believe how old I feel thinking of Casey being born the same year Teen Spirit was released…

Second order of business, Stefano Langone has a DUI past. In 2009, he was a victim of a drunk driving accident, and survived–then one year later, the dude got arrested for driving under the influence. I can’t believe after surviving a gnarly drunk driving accident, that he’d turn around and put others’ lives at risk. Was there no lesson learned??? Ugh. I guess all the dirt surfaces when you do reality…what a douche.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Not to mention the innocent lives he endangered. I hate drunk drivers. This guy won’t last long.

I was also excited to hear Casey perform Nirvana, but it just came across as weird. His screaming and crazy eyes seemed like an SNL sketch with Will Ferrell playing Kurt Cobain.

As far as Langone, not that I condone it, but BFD. I doubt there’s a a person in America with a driver’s license who went through their 20s without driving under the influence at least once. But you would figure a guy who almost ended up in a wheelchair would avoid the practice.

Anyone who drives drunk is an ass and a danger to everyone else on the road. What makes it especially annoying in this kid’s case is that they pimped his whole nearly-died-in-a-car-crash tragedy, while conveniently forgetting to mention that, not only was his own fault, but that he was arrested for a DUI again the following year. So sorry, I still think he sucks. And I hate the way he sings anyway.

Casey is a huge disappointment. Who knew that the guy can’t really sing? Well, not on a big stage anyway. He’s just getting swallowed up. Really sad.

Meanwhile, Baby Lockthemdoors continues to crack me up. I really hope he wins this. Can’t wait until his album comes out — featuring 12 songs that sound exactly the same. And he’s got Sideways Mouth Syndrome when he sings. What a goofball.

I wonder why the producers gave Frenchie the boot in season one for doing something legal (although questionable,) with the excuse she would set a bad example for the young viewers…but they’re keeping Drunk Driving Guy.

    Interesting double standard.

Come on, give Casey a little bit of a break–the kid was in the hospital all week and didn’t have the same practice time the others did. Yes, his performance was extra-growly and kinda weird, but he said he was going for edgy and taking a risk. He never said, “I’m gonna go out there and sing real pretty.” Go watch the YouTube video of his rendition of “Georgia on my Mind”. Kid CAN sing. May not be your style, but lots of other people enjoy him. I’m gonna give him a pass for this week, maybe next time he will pick a song that better shows off his vocal ability.

Oh, and Stefano? He’s never gonna be MY idol, that’s for sure. Inexcusable. There’s never a good enough reason to drink and drive. I liked him, too, but this kinda pisses me off. Wonder if it will affect how many fans he has.

I swear at one point in Casey’s performance he sang “a mosquito! in my speedo!”

Tell you what. If he shaves that awful beard, I’ll give him another chance. Until then, he looks like he wandered in from a Dungeons & Dragons marathon.
