amy sedaris on the closer

Hey Gasmii, I got to hop on the phone with Amy Sedaris in support of her appearance on TNT‘s The Closer this Monday, February 16th at 9PM.

FYI, I LOVE Amy Sedaris, she’s one of my absolute favs!

Here’s the interview:

Amy Sedaris: Rajabi. Rajabi.

Nads: LOL! You’re my absolute favorite ever. And I’m sure you get that all the time, so I’ll stop geeking out. Let’s talk about The Closer, you play the psychic or an intuitionist this Monday. Have you ever visited a psychic? And do you have any crazy, wacky stories about it if you have?

Amy Sedaris: No, I’ve never been to a psychic, but I have a friend whose mom’s an astrologist. And I wasn’t suped out by her, but that’s a whole ‘nother story – I know it’s a different thing than psychic and astrologist really. But no, I’ve never been to one. But I’m not saying I don’t believe in them. I just you know, just never been.

(more after the jump)

Nads: When on set shooting The Closer how was the chemistry on the set?

Amy Sedaris: Well, the cast and the crew really got along really well. And that’s always a good sign of a good set you know because when you know working on Strangers with Candy, we always included our crew you know what I mean? They were there for all of it. Sometimes I’d go to them and say, “Hey, I need a funny line. What can I say here?” You know? So it reminded me a lot of a theater set where everyone got along and everyone’s role was to make a really good episode. So that really made everything a lot easier.

Nads: On The Closer, Kyra’s character is always able to get people to confess…are you able to get people ton confess in real life?

Amy Sedaris: For some reason I’m good at it. Like, I can get – I can be talking to someone and – for 10 minutes and then walk away from them, and have their entire life. Like a lot of times, people will say, “How did you find that out?” You know because you find that when you ask somebody something, a lot of times, they’re going to want to tell you because they’re not used to talking about themselves. And then once they know you’re actually listening, they’re going to keep talking. So I’m kind of like the – I’m the kind of person where I get a lot of information out of people.

Nads: How are your rabbits, cheese balls, and cupcakes?

Amy Sedaris: Yes, my rabbit’s sacked out on top of my bed as we speak. She’s just sacked out. She’s exhausted. And then my cupcakes, I sell at a bakery up the street, but I haven’t made them since the summer just because you know butter went up so high, and I just decided I didn’t want my apartment extra hot during the summer, plus you get cockroaches. So – and cupcakes are everywhere now. So I haven’t been making them. But I’ll start making them again in a few weeks.

Nads: What’s Jerri Blank doing now?

Amy Sedaris: I wonder that sometimes. I think Jerri Blank is working in a hardware store somewhere in Florida.

Nads: Any plans for a follow up book?

Amy Sedaris: I am. I’m doing a crafts book.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.
