Mariah Carey has officially signed on to be a judge on American Idol. She told the Fox boss Kevin Reilly, “I am so excited to be joining Idol.” Kevin Reilly also confirmed that J.Lo and Steven Tyler are officially off the show, which we all know at this point. This now poses the question if The Dawg is staying on? I know he had a lot to do with Mariah coming onboard because he manages her, so something tells me that he’s staying put.

Earlier today Nigel said that he’d like the judges to change every year. He said, “I would like to see the judges change every year. It’s horrible to be in this position where you guys [in the press] are asking, ‘Who’s it going to be?’ and there are thousands of names being thrown out. And it’s unfair on negotiations. You can’t negotiate with somebody in a public marketplace.”

Could you imagine that happening? New judges every year? I don’t know if that’s the answer because part of the reason you watch a show is for the judges because you grow to like them and anticipate their feedback…I think Nigel is wrong on this one, but who am I to judge?

What do you think of Mariah as a judge?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Not that I care about this show at all, but it’s nice to see someone with actual vocal talent judging this show. Not that Steven Tyler doesn’t, but it’s a whole different kind of singing talent.

    Let the show die already!!!

In five years its gonna be “The fourth chick from The Bangles just signed with Idol. No, not one of the ones you recognize — the other one. Yeah, her. Awesome, right!!!”
