According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC is going to announce that the 2013-2014 season will be the last for Jay Leno as The Tonight Show host. That would mean a move up for Jimmy Fallon to take over his spot. A source told the Reporter, “The more time Jimmy Kimmel is in that slot, the more the young audience goes that way, the harder it is for [Fallon] to keep that audience,” says a source familiar with the network’s thinking. Leno’s Tonight still performs well for NBC, regularly besting his late-night rivals. But Kimmel is competitive in the 18-49 demo. “Kimmel has done extremely well.”

Not that I’m a fan of Leno, but the network will lose the older demo if they get rid of Leno. I think Fallon will do a fantastic job in that slot, but it will certainly change the dynamic of late night for NBC…and I don’t think that’s such a bad thing. I think it’s so funny that I couldn’t stand Fallon when he first started his show and now I absolutely adore him. Go Fallon!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Fallon and Kimmel do something that Letterman and Leno have forgotten: they make the GUEST important, not themselves. (Craig Ferguson started out like Fallon and Kimmel, but he seems to have lost that focus.)

I agree with Catty, but I love Craig Ferguson, and think his monologues are the best. Also, people always bring up the “older demo”, but I think Jay puts them to sleep by the end of his monologue. They fall asleep, forgetting to turn off the TV, and voila! Ratings!

I hate Jay, because I hate weasels.

How long will Leno be gone this time before we have to start a Team Jim-Bo? I’d put something in the contract to make sure Jay doesn’t sneak his way back onto the show via primetime.
