Jimmy Kimmel Is Taking Over

ABC finally did it…They’re moving Jimmy Kimmel Live to the 11:35 spot, which might actually make him the new king of late night. ABC decided to move Kimmel because it’s a win-win for them, and here’s why: Kimmel brought in $100 million in ad revenue last year, and the only expectations ABC has on Jimmy is for him to bring in more than Nightline, which made $40 million last year in ad revenue. So there is no REAL pressure for him to beat Leno or Letterman (at first), it’s all about the ad $$$. This is a HUGE move for Jimmy, and we’ll see how he does 30 minutes earlier–he’ll certainly have a bigger audience, if they tune-in. As for Nightline, ABC is moving it to 12:35AM, so it’s not going anywhere, but I’m sure a lot of people who tune-in will be upset because it’s not exactly a DVR worthy show, it’s a “watch it before you go to bed” type thing.

Personally, I think Kimmel will do great in this time slot. This is subjective, but I think his sketches and segments are way better than Leno or Letterman, and he brings something new and fresh to the table. And this is unrelated, but I’m sure Jimmy Fallon and Craig Ferguson are happy because now people are finally freed up to watch the first 30-minutes of their show. Yay, everybody wins, until someone tanks in ratings. Ha!

Jimmy Kimmel Live will start broadcasting at 11:35PM starting January 2013.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Loved him ever since he was Ben Stein’s sidekick. With fresh young competition, The Old L guys will either have to freshen up or retire.

    Win win for everybody!
