Katie Couric’s $20 million deal with ABC is almost complete. Her new deal will have Katie doing a one-hour, 5-day-a-week syndicated talk show, plus do specials for ABC News, 20/20, and a lot of fill-in anchoring. All sounds great for her, but the casualty in all of this? ABC could cancel General Hospital. Which is HORRIBLE NEWS!

It’s all in the rumor stages right now, but if this all goes down I know there will be a TON of soap fans that will be picketing outside of ABC with Katie Couric’s head on their picket sign with a fat bull-eye on her forehead. I hope her deal doesn’t cause the last soap standing on ABC to go under. It would be a crying shame, and a sad day for soaps.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I hate to say it, because I’m sure there are die-hard GH fans, but I think the death-knell has already been rung pretty loudly for daytime soaps. I don’t watch soaps and never have, but a world without them would seem oddly sad to me. If it’s not canceled now, it will be canceled soon.

Ok, I haven’t watched soaps in a LOOOOOONG time but GH was my fav. I remember rushing back from class and standing in the dorm lobby with scads of others waiting for Luke to finally see Laura across the field (after he thought she was dead). What jubilation there was amongst my cronies! Nobody cares about Katie Couric except Katie Couric. I agree there would be tons of soap viewers who feel ABC has slapped them in the face. Do they *really* think these people are just gonna say, “Well, my show’s gone. Guess I’ll just watch this Katie Couric shite instead. Do do do do doooo.”

Didn’t Luke rape Laura? Isn’t that how they met? I really don’t know, but my mother, Mean Jean, mentioned something like that once several years ago and I was completely aghast.

If they take Mean Jean’s “story” off the air, here go hell come.

Luke did rape Laura at the disco one night after closing. The character of Luke was supposed to be a temporary character. Once the show decided to keep Luke, they had Laura forgive him for the “seduction” (that was what it was referred to on the show).

OMG! I remember Richard Simmons used to give his exercise classes at the disco during the day and all the (off duty) hospital staff would show up in their Jane Fonda spandex to work out.

Soaps are dying off anyway. I have no idea who is watching them anymore. I’m a stay at home mother and I never watch them. An hour on tvgasm is way more fun! I think Katie’s show will prob be great.

Is that Katie Courics real face in this picture – no photoshop tricks? She looks like the Joker from batman. Her mouth looks unnaturally weird.

Say it isn’t so. I haven’t watched GH probably since 1992, but my dad now that’s another story. The man has moved from the VCR to DVR and never misses a show. God forbid you taped over a show back in the days of the VCR. I feel bad for the senior crowd who really depended on their “stories”. They aren’t interested in this news-talk crap taking over the networks. They may actually start leaving the house and clogging up the grocery store during the few precious hours I have of kid free shopping.

Katie Couric please tell ABC not to cancel General Hospital and tell them to put your show on at a different time? General Hospital must never be canceled. General Hospital is simple the be show on TV. I will be absolutely devastated if General Hospital gets canceled.
