Kelly Clarkson killed it singing the National Anthem yesterday at the Super Bowl. It was simple, perfect, and much better than her bangs (sorry Clarkson fans). Where do you think she was dressed up to go after she sang? An interview at a temp agency? A funeral? I can’t get over her dress! Yes, it was simple, and not distracting, but come on!!!! She can do better than that! Give me some pizzazz, woman!!!

All things aside, her performance was amazing…

Here’s her performance:

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I find it hard to consider any performance of the National Anthem, one of the worst songs ever written, as amazing. It’s only saving grace is that it’s apparently too awful even for Mitt Romney.

I thought she did great! She did not try to oversing it or make it about “look how awesome my voice is-” the problem most Anthem singers have had since Whitney Houston. I also heard Scotty McCreary sing it at a Panthers game – his was THE best I have ever heard (and I had never heard him sing before) – again, simple, straight-forward, with an amazing voice.

I’m right there with Itchy in thinking the National Anthem is “one of the worst songs ever written,” and I loathe the way people always try to make it “fresh” and “original” with runs and other musical frippery. The only song that is abused more than the National Anthem is Amazing Grace. But I do love me some Kelly Clarkson, and she did a fantastic job.

Last I knew, Massachusetts, Michigan, and maybe Indiana have laws that can fine singers for fucking around with the National Anthem too much. I think I agree with them. If Clarkson didn’t desecrate the darn thing, then good for her.

Well done, Kelly. Best I’ve heard that sung in ages.

She did good! I think the dress was to keep folks from focusing on her weight issues. I thought she looked elegant.

Agreed Kelly did well. Too bad it was indoors my favorite part of games is at the end of the national anthem when the planes flying over the stadium.
