Kevin Clash, The Voice Of Elmo Accused Of Having Sex With An Underage Boy

Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo from Sesame Street has taken a leave of absence from Sesame Street due to allegations of having a sexual affair with an underage boy. Supposedly Kevin had a seven-year sexual relationship with a 23-year-old man who claims he started having sex with Kevin when he was 16. Kevin insists he started his relationship with the accuser after he turned 18. The Sesame Street Workshop people told TMZ, “In June of this year, Sesame Workshop received a communication from a young man who alleged that he had a relationship with Kevin Clash beginning when he was 16-years-old. This was a personal relationship, unrelated to the workplace. We took the allegation very seriously and took immediate action.” 

This is all blowing up because the accuser is claiming that the Sesame Street lawyers were trying to muzzle him when he came forward with the initial allegations, so the accuser went and got a high profile law firm, Andreozzi and Associates (the people that represented one of the victims from The Jerry Sandusky case). The Sesame Street people said they never tried to silence the accuser, rather asked for evidence to support his claim–which he never came forward with. Anyway, the latest is- the accuser now says he has an email from Kevin from his Sesame Street work email acknowledging he had the affair with the accuser when he was 16. YIKES. The Sesame Street peeps told TMZ, “Kevin insists that these allegations are false and defamatory and he has taken actions to protect his reputation. We have granted him a leave of absence to do so.” And Kevin told TMZ, “I had a relationship with [the accuser]. It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not.”

I hope none of this is true. It feels like the accuser is just trying to suck money out of Sesame Street and Kevin. And isn’t it crazy that it’s all just coming out now after the minor success of Kevin’s documentary, Being Elmo?

    I don’t know what else to say about this except that I hope it’s not true. I feel like the accuser had all this info and waited to come forward after Kevin’s success story to maximize his settlement. People don’t make public statements like this unless they want press and a lot of money. And if this guy had a relationship with Kevin for 7 years, it’s a shame that this is how it was handled. Sex with anyone underage is not okay…I’m curious to see if the accuser can come up with the evidence. I hope it’s not true…This new is really disappointing to me.

    Nooooooooooo! I love him! My daughter loves him. She has watched his documentary at least four times, from start to finish, and was captivated the whole time. (That toddler lurves a documentary.) I hope this isn’t true. Or maybe it was in a state where 16 is the age of consent (we have some states with that law.) Either way, I hope this guy gets exposed as an opportunist. You’re right, Nads..this guy didn’t say anything until Kevin Clash became somewhat of of a household name, then all of a sudden this guy appears.

    I just hope he isn’t smeared.. I love his story and I don’t want it tainted by young taint. ‘Taint true!

    One of the phrases Talking Elmo says is, “Isn’t anyone going to play with Elmo?” I will never hear it the same way again…

    Bet the accuser is one of those Mitt Romney Republicans!

    Seriously, though, that’s some serious stuff. I hope it’s not an opportunist trying to extort money from a truly creative individual.

    Lordy– I just creeped myself out with that—But yes I am with you guys– This guy has been silent for years until now–smells like a lawsuit.

    ^ That’s more like prostitution though. Her parents sold her into sexual/marital slavery for no apparent reason.

    But I hope this guy is a lying fraud.
    Elmo has been around too long and touched too many children (not like that) for him to go out like this.
