I arrived in Gwangju safely this morning and have been going non-stop since! This place is a trip. It’s exactly what I thought it would be, computers everywhere you look with free internet, tons of Daewoos, Kias, and Hyndais, nice people and lots of Kimchee! I’m gassy ;-) The good news is that I fit right in being 5’2”! Go Nads. I love Korea!

My day started off going to the convention and listening to a million pitches. The best pitch was a guy telling me about his late-night show and its “standing-comedy” I was like, “Stand-Up Comedy?” And he said, “No! Standing-Comedy” And if you see below I took a picture of his pitch. He was right! Standing Comedy! The best part about it is that it’s named, Shin Dong-Yeob’s Empire of Sense.

Because Standing Comedy Just Makes Sense!

They also have the same reality based shows like America’s Next Top Model, but here it’s called, I’m a Model. Top Chef here is called, Challenge To Chef. Why Not, right?

The one thing I found here is that the game shows are AMAZING!!! I was just watching a show about a group of Tae-Kwon-Do people plaing “Izzy Dizzy” (spinning on a bat w/ their forehead) for 30 seconds and then going in a line to chop wood! It was hysterical! Take a look, I took a picture with my webcam:

Korean television is very loud, and fun. They have a lot of animation and TONS of soap-opera type shows. I’ll have plenty more for you guys tomorrow. So there you have it. Your first Korean Newsgasm!!! See you all tomorrow.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.
