Gilly RIP

Kristen Wiig told Time that she’s putting two of her characters to bed. She’s officially retiring Gilly and Penelope. Ugh. I’m soooo sad that Gilly is going down for the count. It’s not fair, I haven’t had enough time with her. I know it’s the SAME thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER again, but it’s so funny. I can’t get enough of the overbite, and the facials.

And Penelope–damn you! Say it ain’t so!!! She’s the best one-upper EVER!

I’m just happy she’s not putting baby-hands Junice to bed. That would be a travesty.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

    I think baby hands is named DOONICE….and I only know that because of friend of mine dressed as her for Halloween

    you just rocked my world! We were calling her Doonice all Halloween. Oh well, it’s a hilare name regardless. My friend cut the hands off a Bratz doll for the costume :) Creepers.

    I HATE Gilly. Worst character EVER. I always FF through that sketch I don’t find it funny at all.

    I do like Penelope though, so I’ll be sad to see her go. And Nads, the sketch with Liza Minelli was so awesome, it’s my favorite too!

    Echoing the Junice love, that character just cracks me up every single time.

    I’m with georgiababe. I was never a fan of Gilly, but I love Penelope! “My best friend is a tomato and Liza Minelli.” Love it. Well, hopefully they’ll bring back the Target lady and the “just kidding” character — both fantastic. I love Kristen Wiig. She’s the best thing about SNL these days. I hope she doesn’t leave too soon, but it’s great to see that her movie career is taking off. I can’t freaking wait to see Bridesmaids. You can’t go wrong with a movie that’s funny AND has copious amounts of shirtless Jon Hamm. Mmmmmmm . . . Hamm.

    I agree with the above smart people. Gilly was a waste. I hated Gilly and would have told Wigg that to her face.

    @NinaD – Ha! Doonice is funnier that Junice…let’s stick with that.

    And everyone else–as far as Gilly goes–it’s really funny when you personally channel her. My brother and I do her all the time. But Penelope is Amazing, and so is Junice!

    @georgiababe – so with you…that Liza sketch goes down in the books!
