Late Night Strike Beard

I tried to flip through the late night shows last night. All of the late night hosts went on about how they support the strike, and then carried on with their show. The only one I didn’t get to was Kimmel, and that’s because I was too busy watching the end of Letterman, Leno (btw…Emril has gained so serious lbs.) and of course Conan. Let’s talk about some of the shows:

Conan kind of delivered a monologue, but Jay’s the only one getting tons of scrutiny today behind his monologue. Jay’s getting scrutiny because people are speculating he had someone writing for him, when Jay claims him and his wife wrote the monologue and if it’s not funny, then blame his wife.

The WGA reminded Conan and Jay, “no monologues” before they went on, so what are they supossed to do, stand there in silence? If they’re talking by themselves at any moment, then it’s considered a monologue, right?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I’m not a WGA supporter, I’m a proud member, but I’m a sick of nothing being resolved over cents. (btw…blogging is not WGA ;-) ) The studios need to quit playing chicken and just settle.

But back to Conan, people thought his show was subpar at best, but the only part about it that was “subpar” was Bob Saget. The crowd just wasn’t having him. Then, one of my closest comedy friends, Dwayne Perkins did his set, and did great. But for me, the show wasn’t about the guests, it was about Conan. I loved that Conan celebrated doing “nothing.” They literally panned on his beard in 4 different angles, which killed about 25 seconds. Then, he spun his wedding ring on his desk trying to beat his record of 41 seconds. After that, a home video of his office and him playing guitar…Um…on second thought, maybe they were reaching a bit. Onward.

All in all, I can’t sit here on my high horse and criticize too much it was everyone’s first night back in two months. Only time will tell. But, I will say this, Letterman needs to shave.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I watched all of Letterman, some Conan, some Craig and recorded Leno, but haven’t watched it yet. Now I want to go scrutinize his monologue. Letterman AND Conan need to shave! Conan looked like a silent movie villain that will most likely tie someone to the train tracks, and Dave looked like Ted Kaczynski!

I watched some of Leno, Letterman, and Conan, and i thought they did a decent job with the show. Everyone had kind of different ways of filling up the time.

Im not ashamed to say that i love conans beard! I think he looks great!

Conan didn’t look bad to me compared to Letterman, I’m with amarie on that one. I do have to completely agree with geewits on Letterman. He did look Ted Kaczynski. Ted meets the homeless man that lives in my alley in Santa Monica, meets a child molester. His beard is just plain creepy!
