oscars

Now this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read today…but then again today has been pretty boring. But, I just read that the Oscars aren’t going to announce the presenters to create suspense…so basically they’re philosophy is: here’s your X-mas present, but you can’t open it until X-mas day. I know they think their “tactic” will entice more viewers, but now that the DVR exists, I don’t think that people really care about awards shows like they used to. The only way they can REALLY surprise me is if they resurrect Heath Ledger…now THAT I would say would be a show stopper.

So are the Oscars doing the right thing? Probably not, but I don’t think it’ll affect their viewership either way. With awards shows, you’re either in or out.

The nominees are being announced Jan. 22nd at 8:30AM EST, and the awards show will be on Feb. 22 on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Honestly, I don’t really give a crap about the presenters. I watch the Oscars to see my favorite actors/directors/writers etc. get awards. And it’s kind of fun to see all of the nominated movies and then try to figure out which ones will win for what.

The presenters I generally tend to ignore because their sketches are painfully unfunny. Will Ferrell and Jack Black’s sketch at the 2004 Oscars (where Billy Crystal hosted, yes I still remember) was hilarious and most of the stuff that either of those two have done at the Oscars has been hysterical, but otherwise, ick. It’s blatantly obvious who aren’t cut out for comedy when they make them do dumb sketches.
