Former President George Bush was on The Tonight Show last night promoting his new book, and he was actually really funny. I kind of like dumb George W. Bush as the personality, not the president.

Jay told George W. Bush, “The last time you were here it was 2000, it was 10 years ago…and in the last 10 years, thank you for all the material.”

Then Leno asked him if he was bothered by all of the material and George W. responded with “You know, I hate to tell you, I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but I was asleep.” And that explains his Presidency!

Anyway, here’s our funny man, George W…

Talking “Exit Strategy”:

And talking about his drinking days:

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

    How Droll. You do know that the reason he wasn’t awake watching Jay was because he had more important things to do, don’t you? Of course you do. Or, maybe you don’t…?

    Yep, there was attacking a country on false premises, ruining our economy, and exponentially increasing our national debt. I sure understand that. Moreover, all those fake weapons of mass destruction to dream up and Geneva Convention-violating torture techniques to mandate.

    Bush was a far better president than the poser-in-chief we have now.

    Couldn’t have said it better myself so I’ll just copy and paste it.

    @cattyfan,

    Deja vu. I seem to recall you posting that earlier in the week to the original version of this thread that was deleted and I’ll say the same thing now I said then.

    It takes a special brand of slanted thinking or just plain silliness to think that a guy who took an economically stable (and running at a slight profit) country and turn it into an economically depressed morass by cutting taxes while pursuing two wars (one of which was entirely unnecessary and was started under a fraudulent casus belli, as opposed to Bush I, whose Middle East adventures at least had a reasonable casus foederis).

    And we won’t even get into the damage done to civil rights, long-term economic stability, education and a host of other things Bush II managed to foist off on a country willing to follow in the post 9/11 wave of nationalist and protectionist furor.

    Calling GWB a good President lowers the bar for ‘good’ so far that suddenly Harding and Carter become brilliant by comparison.

    I said Bush was better than what we have now…and I stand by that.

    I notice you didn’t address anything of the disastrous decisions made by Obama. Your post, C, is all about your Bush hate…and nothing about the reality of the idiot currently running the country.

    thiajok…It’s got nothing to do with race…and everything to do with being unqualified, and making an even bigger mess for the country.

    And Robin (the first poster) seems to agree with me.

    But the decisions made by Bush weren’t disastrous?!?!?! Is there a word that means something is worse than disastrous?

    @Nads, I like Bush as a person. He’s always been pretty funny and anyone who makes up their own words ranks high in my book.

    Oh, C in Chicago, what would be the point in arguing with cattyfan? You would have to ask her/him precisely what is worse, she would have to run to Fox news to get the imaginary list, you would have to refute it with facts, she/he would sputter and so on…

    Smile and just say “bless your heart” because there is no cure for that affliction…

    @cattyfan,

    First, please don’t ascribe motives to me that I do not possess and you can’t reasonably project, short of being a telepath. I understand this is the Internet, but it’s usually considered impolite to tell other people what they are thinking rather than asking.

    Secondly, I don’t hate Bush. I just think he was bad at the job. And it’s not the kind of job where being bad is something you can get away with.

    Thirdly, I’d point out that the vast majority of the problems facing the country were products of the Bush II terms of office. Everything from the recession to the wars started under that regime, rather than under Obama. Though I notice that some folks like to forget that and pretend everything went to hell when we elected the current President.

    Lastly, I’m not a fan of the current administration either. But I think the mistakes of the current regime compared to the last is lesser by AT LEAST a degree of magnitude.

    I completely agree C in Chicago. They major thing that comes to mind for me is that they bailout would have never been needed had we not worked ourselves into such a whole.

    @ LAC, “you would have to refute it with facts, she/he would sputter and so on…”

    Geez don’t you mean refudiate?!?!?!

    @Vallegirl, works for me…lol

    No more political fighting on this post! :)

    @C in Chicago – we had to repost this b/c our last post was corrupt in our files–the computer was probably forecasting a political debate and wanted to run for the hills. haha

    C in Chicago – oh, you go right ahead and try. I think you made great points! I just know that when a narrative has been embraced by a person, there’s little room for reason. But it is reassuring to read an intelligent assessment of the situation.

    Yeah, Obama’s “disastrous” decisions probably saved this country from a depression. Now the Republicans are in control, we’re headed down that slope if they don’t do anything but cut taxes for the rich.

    I can’t believe anyone believes their load of claptrap. They are bought and paid for by corporate America and everything that they do is going to help the rich and big business at the expense of regular people.

    @ Cattyfan: The “Thanks for blaming the black guy…” wasn’t personal or meant to call you rascist, honestly. I just saw that slogan on a political website under a picture of GWB and thought it was funny.

    I think he was an awful president, but you’re entitled to your opinion. I do miss having him around so much to make fun of, however, but Arrested Development managed to that much better than I ever could and it’s currently showing in re-runs on IFC.
