My Favs At Comic Con

I didn’t get the full Comic Con experience that I wanted as I was working the whole time (off the convention floor), but I will give you my quick favorites below. You’ll get to watch most of my work (and I’ll post some audio) in the next month so stay tuned as we roll out weekly red carpets and sit-down interviews with the cast of The Mummy, Land of the Lost, Drag Me To Hell, Death Race and Disaster Movie.

In the meanwhile, here is a quickie of my favs (in no particular order):

-Meeting Sid and Marty Krofft

-Betting with friends on how many Joker costumes I saw every 10 feet

-People NOT breaking character EVER! (pictured below from Hey’s Supes photo gallery)

-this girl (Edward Scissorhands) pictured above was amazing. I saw her enter the convention not breaking character ONCE throughout the whole day. Even when the badge checker asked to see her badge to get in to the Con she sat there looking sad, and silent with a hand full of metal….thus forcing the badge checker to ruffle through her clothes to find her badge…The great part about that story was that EVERYONE that was dressed in character was like that. It was pretty amazing to see. The one thing that worried me was the lack of security (a lot of people in official shirts, but no one paying attention). It kind of freaked me out seeing hordes of people walking around with “real” looking fake guns. hmmm…could have been dangerous.

-The smell of the people after 4 days of not showering and wearing the same costume (not my favorite, but most definitely a stand-out moment)

-Hanging with and having dinner with Tom Kenny (voice of Sponge Bob, Mr. Show, etc) at Rod Roddenberry’s party…Kevin Smith also made a quick appearance at the party.

-Fans freaking out and taking pictures paparazzi style of voice actors

-People standing in line for 2 hours for a free plastic bag (no joke…I don’t get it either…maybe because it was free?)

Here is a craigslist posting from a die hard fan looking for a Wonder Woman bag that was given out last Thursday:

Date: 2008-07-27, 3:06AM PDT

I’m looking to swap for your WB Wonder Woman bag which was given out on Thursday at SDCC. I can offer the Sci-fi BSG “Big Frakkin Bag”, or the WB Watchmen bag, or the Pushing Daisies/Chuck Bag, or one of the red Star Wars Clone Wars masks.

I’m really hoping to find this bag for a die-hard Wonder Woman fan, so please help out if you can. I’ll be at the con all day Sunday and can meet up easily.

Thanks!

This is the bag they wanted (opps…I gave mine away to some kid):

Wonder Woman Bag

That just about sums up my whole trip. I’ll get some of my raw audio files on the site from my interviews this week, but the videos will be a longer process.

It was a LONG weekend, but a fun one.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Wow Nads, everything you saw & did & reported on was amazing! I watched a bit of it on G4 the other night. One question…. Did you get to see Wil Wheaton while you were there?

No Wil Wheaton, but I think he’s such a hunk!!! I was so busy doing interviews, that I didn’t get to explore the convention the way I wanted to. I did get to meet/interview Jason Statham though…he was dreamy!
