Deadline is reporting that NBC is going to try to do one multi-cam episode of Up All Night without Christina Applegate. I’m torn on this…on one hand I’m just like, PULL THE PLUG already, but on the other hand, Will and Maya can certainly hold their own on a show, and it maybe worth a shot. I’m REALLY curious how it’ll turn out. One commenter was comparing this to the time Valerie became The Hogan Family–and they have a good point. That show lasted for quite sometime. I guess NBC is okay with losing more money, so why not? Roll the dice! Can’t hurt.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

    ONE episode? Geez.

I’ll admit that the whole Valerie/Valerie’s Family: The Hogans/Valerie’s Family/The Hogan Family thing worked out (not only did it suffer through a recast of the lead actress, but it changed networks!), but tv audiences were WAY more forgiving in 1987 than they are now. TV shows 25 years ago (holy shit, you guys are old) could take a chance and find an audience again. And with only 3 main networks and no cable competition, it wasn’t that hard to score a high audience share for the night. There’s so much new TV coming and going that if a show goes off the air for a long period of time, people just don’t care (if it’s network TV, cable’s a different beast). Eighties and 90s shows could get away with this crap (Good Morning, Miss Bliss/Saved By the Bell, kids just mysteriously disappearing and not being mentioned again — Happy Days, Family Matters) because there just wasn’t much more to watch on that given evening. Plus, even if the ONE episode is successful, how long will the hiatus be before they decide to make more? This show was never a ratings hit. NBC is just taking a chance because they have nothing left to lose, since they’re pretty much circling the drain at this point.

The first season was cute. The second a snoozefest.
