OWN is doing a special titled Oprah Builds A Network…sounds like they figured out that the only way to get viewers is to get her mug on that screen. The special will be a two-part primetime special showcasing Oprah’s first year as CEO, and it’s set to air this Sunday and July 15th at 9PM ET/PT.

USA Today said that Oprah is going to “showcase her “innermost thoughts” about the highs and the lows she has faced in creating her cable network.”

I’m sure the special will show Oprah being humbled, not understanding why her network isn’t working, and how she realized that she’d actually have to work instead of putting her name on something. This whole thing sounds like OWN is really scrambling more than ever to get on it’s feet.

So what I want to know is what part three is about…and what they’ll call it? “Oprah Built It, and They Still Didn’t Come?”

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

It’s some show on OWN that I watch now. It’s just like anything on Investigative discovery. I think it’s some thing about finding out about the person you married is a crazy person. Basically is real life Lifetime movies.

Nikki do wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep because they have one of the scarier shows on? I ALWAYS seem to wake up during Nightmare Next Door and think that person is next door to me. :)

hahaha. I set my tv timer to go off after I fall asleep, so I don’t usually wake up again. When I first started watching them to fall asleep to, I would have AWFUL nightmares, but I guess my psyche finally got used to it. :P

I read a press release from Orca and she said that her goal was to provide “uplifting and goal oriented programming on OWN”

Two weeks later she had a show called “Taboo” on OWN. I will not bore you with the details, but I will say this; it was not uplifting and it was not goal oriented. It was trash. I like trash, and this was too trashy even for me.

So, now she is doing a show about how she does a show. Why am I not suprised in the least?

If no one watches the network, why in the HELL would people watch a show about how the network was made?

jesus, talk about grasping at straws

Taboo may be the show from NatGeo that discusses ‘taboo’ practices around the world. The sex stuff are okay because I guess I’m desensitized but the one where a family in Africa has to hand raise a dog until it’s a year old, then kill it, and eat it…could.not.bear.it. They were sensitive enough to take the kill off-screen but I still heard the whimper-cry of the poor pup who was just relaxing at his master’s feet before getting bashed with a club. That gave me nightmares.

I only give coins to homeless people if they have pets.

Kidding! But I am an animal lover.

Yes, it is also on NatGeo. But many programs on OWN are other network shows. “Who the bleep did I marry” from ID, “Woman Behind Bars” from BIO, Lots of Lifetime shows, etc, etc.

And the most original program she can come up with is a show about how she started a network by using other folks ideas to start a network..pfft. Her ego should have its own show. Narrated by her ego and Starring her ego.

Next week OWN is going to air that SyFy original movie where Debbie Gibson and Tifanny get into that big catfight. Megashark vs. Mansquito, was it?

It’s one of Gayle King’s favs.

@Robinez: Her ego already had its own show, then decided it wanted its own network.

“Her ego had its own show, then it decided it wanted it’s own network”, and then her ass, not to be outdone, decided it wanted its own zip code.
