extreme poodles

I am OBSESSED, TLC is doing a show called Extreme Poodles, a show about competitive creative dog grooming, and the trailer looks f’n amazing!  I know it’s another ridiculous reality show exploiting people, but this takes the cake.  I can’t believe people do this to their dogs, it’s borderline abuse.  If I were one of those poodles, I’d be so upset.  I’m all for roller derby poodle, but once the groomers start making their poodles look like buffalo, and lions…that’s where I draw the line…they’re DOGS!

Scroll to 26 seconds in, it’s f’n amazing!

“You want to get your haircut?  You want to get your hair blow-dried?  You want to go see Grandma?”

Extreme Poodles airs this Sunday at 9 PM ET/PT.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

they actually really enjoy being groomed, and have been taught from a young age to accept it. they use very safe products, that are used for kids and dogs. these dogs are treated better than most house pets, to say thy are being abused akes light of the very real and large animal abuse problem.

Do you think dogs whip out a grooming book and pick their hairstyle? Do you think they somehow know what correct clip is for their breed? Do you think they KNOW…that they look like a buffalo, a lion or a camel? All these dogs know, is that they have been groomed, and people are giving them attention, which they like? It is their natural fur. Anything that is glued into their coat (sometimes for a matter of minutes for a picture) is immediately taken out, and they get a bath the next day to wash the glitter and styling products from their hair.
TLC is the learning channel. I truly hope this teaches people something about creative grooming. People who think this is cruel, don’t truly have a clue about dogs. These dogs get to do everything any other dog gets to do. i truly hope TLC will TEACH people to stop making assumptions. YOU included.

sarcasmintended–no, i don’t think they know they’re being groomed like buffalos…i was simply saying, if i were a poodle, i’d be upset if i looked like a buffalo. i am a dog lover, and i posted the trailer b/c i thought it was funny, and interesting. i actually watched the show and found it super interesting.

and you’re right TLC is the learning channel- and i’ve learned from watching Kate Gosselin how NOT to be a total lunatic. ;-)
