oprah OWN

Remember a long time ago we wrote about Oprah getting her “OWN” channel, well, it’s starting to come true. OWN (collaboration between Discovery Comm. and Oprah) is finally launching next year some time but Oprah won’t make the move until her syndication contract is up in September 2011.

She IS slowly taking over the world.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Well Ted Turner had his own channel and then got some more and one was even a 24 hour news channel, and he hasn’t taken over the world. Unless he’s been very discreet. And oywhatnext, that’s funny!

    oywhatsnext – always witty

As for yr comments on Ted Turner, I think we are talking about two vastly differing egos here. Also two vastly different levels of wealth and power.

I know Big O is known for her philanthropy and her tithing — well, we ALL know all about her good deeds bc she trumpets (loudly broadcasts) them to the world — so that’s not to say she doesn’t privately give as well.

But Ted Turner didn’t ever posit himself as the new messiah, did he?

He also gave most of his media empire away, right? And therefore he wasn’t afraid to divest himself of (and thus diminish) the very foundation of his power.

I dunno. I know she does lots of good work but she really gives me the creeps.

I guess there are a lot of lost and opressed women in this country that look up to her for guidance. I just wish they’d work harder on self-examination, self-empowerment and self-esteem without just blindly following everything O says or does.
