 Bigbird

Man was that a good lay…

eggs big bird

PETA, a solid organization most of the time, is putting poor Sesame Street under fire for promoting eggs as a wholesome food. Unbelievable. PETA wrote to Sesame Street: “promoting the egg industry’s deceptive ‘Good Egg Project,’ Sesame Street is misleading children and parents into believing that eggs are a wholesome food, when the truth is that eggs are linked to multiple serious health problems and that the egg industry horribly abuses animals.”

I get that the a lot of the Egg industry abuses animals, but when Sesame Street‘s major sponsor is the American Egg Board, what are they supposed to do? PETA should focus on shutting down farms that abuse animals, not a poor children’s show.

I was always taught that Eggs were good for me–by my trainer, at school, my grandma, my mom, etc. I know that studies are linking that they’re not the BEST thing for you, but it’s all subjective. It’s not like the nicotine industry is sponsoring the show, and Oscar is coming out of his trash can smoking a Virgina Slim.

Ease up PETA. What’s next? Telling Sesame Street they shouldn’t promote vegetables because farmers are overworked???

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Good grief… Well, I liked your last point that would be the next step… although, I’m not sure if PeTA’s advocacy efforts have really ever extended to actual people and why would they when there’s unfertilized eggs that would never become actual animals to protect. I do love how now whenever Cookie Monster is on screen he’s divulging the virtues of a healthy diet, vegetables, and moderation: I lol’d when I caught an episode of SS with my four-year-old and hear the blue one say, “Cookies are great as a treat, once in a while, with moderation.” LOL. Man.

As a strident supporter of animal rights, I hate PETA. I can’t think of a single organization that has done more to set back animal rights issues than them, which is really sad. They place almost zero emphasis on prosecution and reform of animal abusers and instead focus solely on shameless publicly stunts which are demeaning to both people involved and the animals they’re supposedly trying to protect.

But, in the words of Dennis Miller, that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The egg stuff goes in cycles. Every so many years a study comes out that says they are good for you and then some other group does a study saying they are bad.

Sesame Street has changed so much since I was a child that it pretty much isn’t the same show any more because everything has to be politically correct and not show any stereotypes. Watch a kid’s show today and you can barely understand them because they don’t make much sense.

I couldn’t agree w/ you more…all they know how to do is bark up trees without taking action. and then, they stunt cast their ads by getting celebs. to show they’re PETA supporters without any follow through. leave sesame street alone PETA!

You know what bugs me most about PeTA is how they spend all of their time going after people and doing stupid publicity stunts, exactly as Alafoss said.

They rake in HUGE money every month, yet they amount of animals that they saved last year? Less than 20.

It’s ridiculous. They are the scum of animal rights groups.
