Guess what I got in my inbox this morning? A press release from Comedy Central announcing that President Obama is going to make his fifth appearance on The Daily Show. How does this man find the time??? We should stop calling them appearances, and start calling them cameos.

Here’s part of the release sent:

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA TO APPEAR AS A GUEST ON

“THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART”

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27 AT 11:00 P.M.

NEW YORK, October 20, 2010 — President Barack Obama will make his fifth appearance as a guest on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Wednesday, October 27 at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT), his first since taking office as President of the United States of America.  President Obama’s last appearance on “The Daily Show” was on October 29, 2008, just days before he was elected President.  He has also appeared on April 21, 2008, August 22, 2007 and November 7, 2005.

###

How about focusing on being a President rather than making so many TV appearances? I’m sorry, but it’s getting super old. Mythbusters, and now The Daily Show? I’m not mad at The Daily Show for having him on, it’s a big get for them…but at some point Obama’s camp should tell the Prez to tone it down a bit. It’s almost a joke at this point. I wonder, did Oprah have something to do with this?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Obama visited the Daily Show well before his candidacy and his rapport with Jon Stewart was amazing.

Too bad he won the preseidency right after our resources were depleted and we were speeding towards a recession. And we’d been in war for years. Because somehow people thinks it’s his fault. He gave us health care reform, he did countless other things that didn’t get into the news, like lifting the ban on preventing HIV+ tourists from visiting the US.

I appreciate a “man of the people” type of president who we see interacting with the “everyman” so much more than one who is so out of touch he only made State of the Union speeches, posed on the front lawn of the White House, and kept screaming “we’re not in a recession” into any mike up until he left office, only for us to realize most everyone we knew were losing their jobs and banks were closing as people defaulted on loans..and oops, we were in a recession.

Obama will be the Jimmy Carter of our time. A great man but just too nice an “everyman” to be appreciated in his own time. Jimmy Carter lacked the hard core mean spirit drive it took to bomb countries; he instead try to hold hands with the world and thought he could make it a better place. It’s makes for a great human being but it’s not the right mix for President. That is why I’m always so tempted to vote the other side; those hard core SOB’s would nuke they momma!! Here’s hoping Obama get things to turn around by the end of next year and his legacy won’t just be “first black president” (Running now before I get NUKED)

Wow – where to begin – First, he is the President, he has acted presidential and shown a maturity and restraint that is lost on some folks. He has accomplished a number of goals. Educate yourself about his record instead of having others tell you what his administration is doing and trying to do to right what was a sinking ship. Snark for snark’s sake is cheap, Nads.

yeah lets see what this asshat has done. spent money we dont have on jobs that are not there. Given us healthcare that costs more to the average person. Taken WAY too many fucking vacations. Not done anything for 1 whole month while oil was spilling. Yep very presidential

Uh, NADS, would you stay out of politics! First, Elizabeth, then Bristol now Obama. There is no room for politics at TVGASM.

BTW: Obama will be at my place of employment tomorrow. He is giving a speech/pep rally on the steps of Doheny Library on the beautiful USC campus.

Geez, you’d think Nads kicked a puppy or something! Personally I don’t mind the Prez being on TV as long a there’s a good reason. I heard on Mythbusters it’s some type of education initiative promo.

Uh, muslimevil..so the President was supposed to find the solution to stop oil from spilling into the sea when BP (the oil experts) could not?? And then when he’s done he also should cure cancer. Because, I mean, isn’t it a presiden’t job to fix problems? ALL problems! I keep forgetting that “President” spelled backwards = miracleworkerwhosqualifiedateverything.

The President could close Guantanamo (like he promised), end Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell (promised), enact that horrid Health Care Reform (as promised), change our intelligence gathering/Patriot Act use (Bush had it all wrong) all with swipe of the figurative pen…huge markers he ran on…lots of people in his camp expected great big promises to be fulfilled. So they are taking inaction on those particular issues personally. That’s about where he’s lost his camp.

Sarcasatire, that is what his job is , apparently- walk on water and look pretty doing it..sigh. And I don’t even know what VRoxas is talking about – I feel as if he/she just woke up from a two year nap. Left…Right… neither side never lets facts or political reality get in the way of a good temper tantrum…

@Baxter..what happens in Nov. 2011? I’m assuming since the president was voted into office in 2008 that he would remain there until 2012. Am I missing something? (actually, he would remain there until jan, 20, 2013 as per the Lame Duck Ammendment, but that would be splitting hairs)

I swear, when I was 18 I didn’t see the point of voting because I wasn’t convinced I mattered. Now it’s the candidates who can’t convince me they matter. Life really is one big circle.

With all the technology available, it’s easy enough for a politician to appear on a TV show and still do his job. I’d also venture to guess that Obama’s “Mythbusters” appearance was in keeping with his push to recognize and reward students who excel at science, since US schools are falling woefully behind in math and science.

As for TDS, they’re shooting in DC that week. Likely a motorcade will take him there, do his bit, and take him back. Since Congress is out of session this month, and will be in a lame duck session for the rest of the year, he can handle both things simultaneously. No doubt anything that would need immediate attention would take precedence, but other than screwing up DC rush hour traffic for his motorcade I don’t see anything wrong with the appearances.
