So, the rumors are true. Project Runway is leaving Bravo and going to Lifetime. Season 5 will still be on Bravo, however, season 6 (Nov. ’08) will go to Lifetime (as they signed a 5 year deal). This is insane news considering Project Runway is Bravo‘s flagship show, and has basically made a huge name for the network. NBC Universal is filing a lawsuit against the Weinstein Co. (who produces Project Runway) saying they didn’t have a fair chance to make a counter offer and that the Weinstein Co. has violated NBC‘s rights by making a deal with Lifetime.

The Weinstein Co. lawyer said, “We believe that this lawsuit is without merit. While good for the market for lawyers, it is always unfortunate when parties try to win in court what they have lost in the marketplace.”

While NBC Universal issued this statement, “NBC Universal has continuing rights related to ‘Project Runway,’ including a right of first refusal to future cycles of the series, which the Weinstein Company unfortunately has refused to honor.”

Either way, the show is off Bravo whether they like it or not, but this is HUGE for Lifetime. For some reason Lifetime will always remind me of Sunday afternoons at home with my mother obsessing over a made for TV movie while sipping on Diet Coke and eating junk food. Project Runway is all she needs to complete her favorite network…and now she’ll never even have to change the channel.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I hope Lifetime’s paying PR bank, because that’s all they’re going to get out of this. In every other way, it’s a downgrade to move to Lifetime. Who owns Lifetime, anyway?

Huge downgrade for PR!!! But it’s a big upgrade for Lifetime. It’s nuts. Lifetime apparently bought the show for $150 million. I don’t watch Lifetime unless I’m at my Mom’s house, even then I fall asleep on the couch.
