MCA aka Adam Yauch from The Beastie Boys passed away this morning after a long bout with cancer. He was 47.

So.sad. The Beastie Boys were my idols growing up, especially MCA. He was a true legend, a pioneer, and an inspiration.

Here’s the video where he announced his illness in 2009:

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Wow. Talk about being in denial. Not used to the new format and missed it. Cancer is the ultimate bitch. RIP indeed.

I hate this. Getting old sucks – all your idols start dying once right after the other. I’m gonna’ miss MCA and new B Boys albums. He was a true music pioneer and I hear he was a helluva guy. Reast in peace, Yauch.

Such a sad day for music lovers! Luckily when I was a very young girl, I had a cool older brother that wouldn’t let me listen to bad music. I grew up on all their albums and could tell it was good music even at the tender age of 9. I have taken a walk down memory lane this evening and tried to find my favorite Beastie Boys song. I decided on a tie between “Root Down” and “Get it Together”. RIP Adam. You were loved by so many not only for your contribution to music, but to humanity. The world lost a truly special soul today.

Ugh, totally bummed about about this. Used to cruise around town in my 1987 Chevy Nova rocking the shit out of the Beasties.
Guess in my mind I always pictured these guys being young, fighting for their right to party, and basically being invinsible. But no, people grow up, grow older and get fucking cancer. Cancer, you are a complete asshole.
    RIP MCA

I’ve been singing “whatcha want” and “Paul Revere” all weekend. Paul Revere is probably one of the best rap songs ever.
