rosie and oprah

Rosie O’Donnell is moving to Chicago, and will be taping her new OWN talk show on Oprah’s old soundstage. Her new show is supposed to focus on real issues, and real people. Rosie said, “I’ll focus on a single topic for one hour, things people deal with every day. Raising children. The education system in America. Autism. Relationships, health, weight, depression — and happy stuff too, of course. I envision the show being full of love and laughter.”

It’s nice to see that Oprah’s old stage won’t be torn down, and will be put to use. It sounds like Rosie is in a nice redemption phase of her life, and might be easier to handle these days, rather than her old Koosh Ball days. OWN needs a big show, and Rosie just might be the answer to get them out of their ratings slump.

Whatever her show maybe, I’m positive that it’ll be better than her one-hour variety flop she did a couple years ago.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I think she’d be a great to OWN. Actually wasn’t she really nice in her koosh ball days then she came out and got all pissed off at the world. I think if she can combine a bit of her bitch on wheels Rosie when she was on the View with her queen of nice Rosie from back in the day it’d be a good show.

I heard she was nice to “America” during her Koosh ball days, but her producers said she was a nightmare to work with on the show. Looks like she’s come back down to earth. Agreed, she’ll be great on OWN.

Rosie’s approximation of smile cracks me up. Look at her in that photo. A rabid dog baring its teeth. The smile never makes it to her eyes.

She’s got moments where I agree with her point of view and then she gets over the top bitter and pissed off and I wonder where all that hostility is coming from.
I’m not into “celebrate the diversity of what a family can be” nor “adopt kids cuz it will fill the emptiness in your life” stuff…so I guess no Rosie for me.
However, I thought Roseann Barr did a great job subbing for Joy Behar last night and would love it if she got a gig for a talk show of some kind. Sooner than later of course.

I don’t know if she can keep from shoving her opinions down our throats. As for Roseanne, she was fun to watch, but if she had to do it on a regular basis, I think she’d forget what she was doing there.

I used to watch Rosies show and I liked it. But then, she just went into a weird crazybitch mode. Or maybe she just no longer felt like she had to cover the crazy?
I used to subscribe to a Redbook magazine and then Rosie bought it renamed it and every story in it related to her in some way or another. It went beyond a vanity project and turned into megamaniacal soapbox.

Bitch is crazy and no longer funny, imo.

Didn’t Roseanne used to have her own talk show? I seem to remember her interviewing Tammy Faye Bakker.

At least that studio’s “large lesbian host” trend will live on…

There is nothing good that will come of this. Rosie is a nightmare that is controlled by medication. She will blow like a oil well and seriously go underground I promise you. She doesn’t have the abillity to not push her agenda and never lets anyone else get their point out before she mows them over. Giving her a platform is like building a nuclear power plant on fault in the earth. Not a very good idea.

I don’t see those two egos working well together. But I’d watch if she had Elizabeth Hasselwhatever on to shout down. Because, you know…someone needs to shout her down and Rosie is the man for the job.

“I envision the show being full of love and laughter.”

Funny. That’s what my old boss used to say about the coffee shop I worked at. He happened to be a raging asshole as well. They must be programmed to say that.

I think Rosie will be great as long as she keeps her political views to herself. Oprah endorsed an inexperienced politician and look at the mess our country is in now. Religion and politics breed ill will. Good luck, Rosie, am looking forward to your new show.
