Disney is shutting SoapNET to launch Disney Junior in January of 2012.  I don’t blame them for making that move…does anyone even watch SoapNET?  I feel like they had big plans for the network that just fell by the wayside…I mean where was all of their original programming they were supposed to launch?  The last time I watched SoapNET was when Southern Belles was on–and I only saw one episode that I bailed on.

I’m sure Disney is stoked to pull the plug as they’ll turn over a much bigger profit with a 24-hour preschool network…

So long SoapNET!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Yes, actually…I know quite a few people who watch it. They rely on it to watch the soaps in the evening, without interruptions by the president (like what happened today.) Also there has been some good original programming, like the GH spinoff Night Shift (which at times was far better than GH.)

I’m very sorry to see it go.

I read an article on this and one of the main reasons they are shutting it down is because the channel was created in a pre-Hulu/TV Everywhere world. The channel was created for people to do just what Cattyfan mentioned but now it is not needed with people being able to watch full episodes on the internet.

Sad, sorry cattyfan! that does suck. I have to say that soaps are an area that i’m not familiar with AT ALL–so sorry for my “does anyone even watch” comment.

I only grew up watching one soap on sick days, “Young and The Restless”–that’s all i got!

No need to apologize. Soaps are actually my area of expertise. I write under another name for a soap website…I cover Y&R. (We all have our little secrets ;) )

90210, AND THE OC??? OMG! Where the HELL have I been? Obviously been living under a rock…

And, catty…what’s the website? I can pass it on to my mom, she’s be stoked! My fam watches Y&R on DVR every night after work–and my grandma watches 2 times per day (one in realtime, and one at night w/ my mom).

My grandma speaks broken english, and always likes to recap the episode before my mom watches at night–and it NEVER ends up good. She creates her own story lines when recapping…they’re never close to the episode, but entertaining nonetheless. To be a fly on the wall…you’d love it.
