The United States has canceled funding for Pakistan’s version of Sesame Street because they’ve received allegations of fraud and corruption in production. The State Department spokesman Mark Toner said, “We did launch an investigation into the allegations. We also sent the theater workshop a letter that terminates the project agreement. No one is questioning, obviously, the value and positive impact of this kind of programming for children. But this is about allegations of corruption. We deemed that the allegations were serious enough that we wanted to suspend or cut off the program until we were able to complete this investigation because we take misuse and misspending of U.S. taxpayer dollars very seriously.”

How crazy is that???? Leave it to some corrupt sick f*cks to ruin it for the kids. Were they stealing production money or using Sesame Street as an excuse for a Plushie (Furry) drama? Either way, it sucks.

Can’t people just do things the right way? I am so sad for the poor children of Pakistan. It’s not their fault!!! Let them have Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Elmo and the gang!!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Why is our taxpayer money being used to educate kids in Pakistan? I’m a teacher who was just laid off because we can’t afford to educate our own kids.

^ They don’t even like us though. All the Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, and Barney in the world won’t change that.

So we have proof that we have lost billions to politically connected companies yet won’t cut their funding, but this funding gets cuts because of some allegations?

There is corruption everywhere in Pakistan. In it’s politics, in it’s school system, in it’s hospitals EVERYWHERE. As for why are we funding education in Pakistan…same reason we are funding education in Israel, Egypt and anyone else America feels like being generous too. It’s sad and pathetic how we can afford billions on foreign aid and can’t find secure jobs for tax paying citizens of our own country. @Sel, I understand your frustration. My husband was a school teacher in the same school district for 10 years and when the budget didn’t pass this year he lost his job. In order to teach you have to eventually get your masters so you can imagine how high our combined student loan debt is. Now we are both working for Child Protective Services. You should look into it if it interests you. (Pays a lot better than teaching.)
