Taylor Hicks aka Soul Patrol is not only the first Idol alum to secure a Las Vegas residency, but he’s still killing it. He just got a new deal to perform at the Paris hotel on the Las Vegas strip at Napoleons. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that he has been playing to sold-out crowds, and that’s why they moved him to a bigger venue. I had to write about this, because it’s crazy to me that this guy still has a following. Listen, I know he was on Idol when it was still IDOL, but he used to drive me NUTS to no end. I know music is subjective, blah blah blah–but can someone tell me why this guy is appealing? Is it his hair? Or the fact that he strangely resembles Jay Leno?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

    Go see him live. There’s your answer. Man is a dynamite live performer. Talented…so much more than Idol. He’s a real musician. Anyone who sees him perform knows that immediately.

    Didn’t Suzanne Somers used to kill it in Vegas? If she did, then why not most anybody else?

    If you only know Taylor Hicks from Idol then you don’t know him at all. The man has been touring non stop since Idol. He is a respected musician. He has played with some of the biggest names in Jazz, Country and even Jamband. Taylor always has a great band backing him and it is a treat to see him in concert. The goofy guy on Idol doesn’t show up.

    Thanks guys! I totally didn’t get him on Idol and ONLY know him from Idol. I’m happy to hear he’s not a one-off.

    Suzanne Somers is so much more than her Chrissy Snow character from Three’s Company. Have you seen her on QVC? Girl can sell!

    Last I knew he was in the Grease touring company that was in Rhode Island. And he wasn’t even a lead.

    Damn you, Nads, for making me YouTube his “Levon” performance on Idol. Seascrest intro’d him as having Joe Cocker’s moves and Jay Leno’s hair – so there’s your audience!

    @juddfan ::whispering:: I’d hit that, too…

    I love Taylor’s live shows. Not surprised he’s doing so well in Vegas. He and his band are so talented musically and their enthusiasm is contagious-worth checking out. He’s pretty easy on the eyes too ;) Here’s a version of Midnight Rider

    Taylor Hicks is a talented musician. Instead of tearing him down, go and watch him perform. Geez. At least visit his website. http://taylorhicks.com/video

    I was never a big fan of his but I did hear he was a good performer and he does have a decent voice. I won’t knock him too bad because he makes more money than I will make in a lifetime but he isn’t my cup of tea. I am more of a hard rock girl.
