Steve Carell told Access Hollywood that he’s not coming back for The Office series finale. He said, “I just didn’t think it was right for the character, because that character had had an arch within the story and kind of grew and sort of evolved past the idea of the documentary…I’m really good friends with everybody on the cast and with [executive producer] Greg Daniels and I want to go back to say, ‘Hi,’ certainly, before it all ends, but I just thought, in terms of the character, it didn’t make sense.”

What he really meant to say was–The Office used to be good, and then when it started to suck, I jumped ship.

God I used to love him on that show. In all honesty, it would have been nice to have him make an appearance on the finale, but I get it. A break-up is a break-up. He doesn’t want to go back to have sex with the ex.

Here’s a link to the video if you want to watch it.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

It would be nice for him to come back before the finale though. I mean when you leave a job on good terms you might go back and visit every now and then. Or maybe they could just see him out around town. Scranton can’t be THAT big.

Classy – his character moved to CO, I think. Michael Scott no longer resides in Scranton.

I don’t blame him for not coming back. We have all said it, this show sucks donkey balls now.

I love Steve Carell and am not judging him (!), and while I agree the show has took a horrible turn and continue to watch out of loyalty, I don’t see where the harm is in doing a short appearance on the show that paid his bills for 7 years. Especially when his character was just this side of obsessed with his coworkers.

@JudgyWudgy-I also thought that was odd since Michael considered the staff his family.
