Steven Tyler Didn’t Think Idol Was His Cup Of Tea

Steven Tyler told Rolling Stone that American Idol wasn’t his cup of tea. He said“It was something to do while the storm blew by, to be honest…not my cup of tea…I loved it and hated it. It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.”

Re: taking the Simon Cowell role on the judges table he said, ”It was just hard work: seven-hour days and then I went and did the [Aerosmith] album for eight hours after that…The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent. They wanted me to take the piss out of the kids and I don’t have that in me. That’s not what I’m about. That’s more about that other guy. Not me.”

Doesn’t it seem like he was just bored and depressed and wanted something to do to pass time? And from reading his quotes, I gather he wasn’t a fan of being the “mean” judge…and rightfully so. Simon is the only Simon around. I hate that producers try to place people in boxes and make them play certain roles.

It seems like he’s much happier now that he’s off the show and is counting his money while he gets ready for his album release.

Oh the downfall of Idol…

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Really? The lead singer of a classic rock band that has seen decades didn’t think one of the most self-indulgent, obnoxious shows on television was for him? I’ve been saying that all along. Steven, what does being your life coach pay?
