The Emmys came and went…and they were pretty entertaining. It wasn’t mind blowing, but I don’t think there is much you can do to spice up a format that’s been around forever. I thought Jimmy Kimmel did a great job–he was a little uneven at times, a little low energy (but that’s his style), and he’s certainly funnier on his own show, but at the end of the day, he was funny. As for the winners…can Amazing Race just withdraw from the competition? Seriously!!!

— Drama Series: “Homeland,” Showtime.
— Actress, Drama Series: Claire Danes, “Homeland,” Showtime.

I’m glad I didn’t even know it was on last night, because then I didn’t have to watch Christina Hendricks get ROBBED.
Hmph.
I was wishin’ and hopin’ for John Hamm but it was pretty good last night. Jimmy Kimmel was boring and a lot of the jokes fell flat but he wasn’t on screen that much.
Hurray for Jessica Lange– our batty Constance.
And reading list–damn there are alot of shows I dont watch !!!!!
While I LOVES me some Richie Cunningham, is was alarming to see how has face is turning into a sinkhole and seemingly swallowing itself. At this rate he will be a cyclops by weeks end…
This will never compete with football. They may need to rethink the time of this event.
I’m just going to have to admit that I am never going to understand the genius of Jon Cryer.
I agree, Cawfee! Go Jessica!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the new season of AHS.
Jon Cryer won – why?
Christina Hendricks didn’t win – WHY???
And how on earth is American Horror Story not listed as a regular series? That was not a mini-series. Crafty category choosing Ryan Murphy, you sly dog you.
I would love to help console Jon Hamm over his 5th straight loss. I could seriously console him, over and over again. *swoon*
Cawfee, I love Constance. And WaffleB-Not even Jon understands the genius that is Jon. I hope to catch up with Thrones and Breaking Bad soon. I still wanted Kathy Bates to win. Grr.
“I’m just going to have to admit that I am never going to understand the genius of Jon Cryer.”
What? Have you not seen Pretty in Pink? Never mind.
Hey, Nads! You’re a good judge of comedy, right? I’ve watched Louie and have even seen it described as the funniest show on TV. I don’t get it. Am I wrong? I don’t get what is funny about Dane Cook either, if that helps.
I can sum up this show thusly: a bunch of shows I never watch (save for The Amazing Race) starring actors I don’t particularly like won pretty statues.
Someone watched this over Ravens/Patriots. Why?
@TinkerbellAPixie American Horror Story can be counted as a mini series. It only had like 13 episodes. A mini-series is half and under. A normal full series is around 26 episodes.
Sag Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, only has 13 episodes per season. Dexter only has 12 per season. Walking Dead stated with only 6. Are these all considered mini-series?
“Hey, Nads! You’re a good judge of comedy, right?”
Not only that, she is a pretty good stand-up herself. Check out Nadine Rajabi on youtube.
TC, Robin
Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, etc. are all continuing stories. American Horror Story has been written as an “anthology,” meaning the concept and majority of the cast will change each season…and therefore it qualifies under the rules as a mini-series.
A full regular series (like on primary networks) is usually only 22 to 24 episodes these days. They haven’t been 26 epis since the 70s.
@crankyguy – I think Louis is an acquired taste and not for everybody–he has a very particular brand of humor for sure. As for Dane Cook – I’m not here to bad mouth comics, but I think he takes the gag of repitition in comedy to an extreme (I might have said too much)…
and thanks Robin for the shout out! I don’t have any good stand-up on the web bc Showtime has taken everything down off youtube b/c of copyright stuff.

I’m doing another special in a few weeks, as soon as I have those details, I’ll let you know. Otherwise, you can see me on those vh1 clip shows all the time.
Like cattyfan has already said American Horror Story had a beginning, middle, and end. The story next season isn’t continuing. And the definition I read defined an American tv series as being 20 to 26 episodes. So that’s why I just said around 26.
“The Amazing Race” always wins because the folk voting are basically reality-tv snobs. “Ah, I just can’t stand that silly reality tv – but I do like the one where they travel around because it is educational. Reality Tv – I give it one more year, Schnoopsie. “
Good for Louis! Love him! I love his humor-it’s dark, honest, and he often says the things most people would never say aloud. All that and he still manages to be poignant and relevant.
Don’t get Louie or Dane. Don’t get HBO or Showtime.
And I think Jon Cryers win was a backhanded slap at Charlie Sheen. I say this because I have seen Pretty in Pink.
