The End of 2012 TV

That’s it for the networks kids. Did you notice, I didn’t mention the reality shows. That’s because they are all safe from any type of cancellation. I will be doing an article later this week on the “Best of the Best” for 2012 Reality TV .

Let’s move on to Cable TV real quick. There were some surprise cancellations and some surprise hits this year. Keeping Up with the Kardashians is still holding on to the big money train. People complain about how much they hate them, but they still watch them enough for E! to sign them up till 2015 for $40 million, the biggest deal in reality TV history. The show averaged over 2 million viewers per episode for season 6. Are you anxious to see if Khloe can have babies and if Kim’s freezing her eggs so her and Kanye can have babies when she can buy a carrier find the right time? Season 7 starts May 20th!

Hot on the heels of the Kardashians is TLC’s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The show about the little 7 year old beauty pageant queen, Alana Thompson, and her family, is ratings gold. It pulls in 2 million + viewers, keeping up with those Kardashians! Actually, it’s hard for me to tell the difference between the two shows, except there’s no black people on Honey Boo Boo’s show.

Even though Charlie Sheen is still on crack, his new show, Anger Management, did well enough in the ratings that FX kept its promise and ordered a whopping 90 more episodes. He’s been busy being the good Samaritan over the holidays. He donated $75,000 to a little 10 year old girl fighting cancer. He also offered Angus T. Jones, Jake from Two and a Half Men, a guest starring role on his show, after hearing about his rant. He and his first wife are taking care of 2nd wife Brooke Mueller’s twin boys while she’s in rehab AND he gave Lindsey Lohan $100,000 to buy some blow! God bless us, everyone! Anger Management will continue airing episodes in mid-January.

Cougar Town has been saved too. TBS picked up the show after ABC canceled it and also grabbed all 61 episodes from it’s previous three seasons. They ordered 15 episodes and 20 cases of chardonnay. So let the wine slurping begin! TBS has also renewed two other freshman shows for a 2nd season. They have ordered 10 episodes each for Men at Work and Sullivan & Son. Other first run shows getting a second chance are Dallas (TNT), with no JR, Switched at Birth (ABCF), The Client List (Life), Newsroom (HBO), and The Soul Man (TVland). Just because these shows made it another season, it doesn’t mean the actor’s unemployment line got shorter…..

About

I'm a retired barwhore, who owned a drinking establishment for 20+ years. I've seen it all & done alot of it myself. I AM TV Patrol! I keep you all informed on new shows, specials, cancellations & the Nielson Ratings. I also contribute to "About Last Night". Award shows & the red carpet fashions in "Fashiongasm" are also on my agenda. I'm an expert in television viewing & I'm not afraid to voice my opinion about what sucks or doesn't suck on TV. Oh... and I'm always right.

Happy Endings is hilarious!! Seriously, why doesn’t ABC advertise it? It’s one of the best sitcoms on TV.

Sarcasatire – I agree about Happy Endings. The show is hilarious. Brad’s my fav.

I hate to say it, but I am sooooo glad this is the last season of The Office. I don’t think it went down hill w/ the exit of Steve Carrell. It started totally sucking dick when they tried to make Ed Helms the main character. Even though the episodes have gotten better since Andy sailed away on his boat, you can tell the writers have kind of given up.

I really hope NBC doesn’t cancel Parenthood. It is such a great show. I think I have cried during all but 2 episodes this season.

Lastly, I can’t wait for Cougartown to return! I am glad TBS saved it. Say what you will about the lame ass title, I still think the show is funny and I love Courtney Cox.

So is Mike no longer doing the voice overs for Deadliest Catch etc? Is Deadliest Catch still going after the kids lost the boat (not sure how that happened)?

I must be living under a rock, I did not realize that 666 Park was kaput… I guess I am still mourning Ringer getting the axe earlier in the year.

The Mindy Project = Pure Awesomeness. Ditto for Don’t Trust the B. Finally caught up to Scandal this past week while there was nothing else to watch, and it is AMAZING. Love the Good Wife, one of the few shows that makes me feel smarter for watching it. Cannot wait for the return of Game of Thrones (especially bc if you’ve read the books, the next two seasons follow the third book, which is indisputably the best one.) Really excited for Downton Abbey and the second half of the season of Doctor Who. And I will definitely tune in to see if they polished the turd that is Smash for the second season.

If I’m weighing in on my favorite shows of 2012… shows that I couldn’t wait for them to come on and when they were over, left me wanting more, then here’s my list:

    Breaking Bad
    Game of Thrones
    Falling Skies
    Once Upon a Time
    Dexter
    Mad Men

    Girls
    The Middle

They aren’t even gonna air the episodes of 666 Park Avenue?!
How are we supposed to watch it?
I’m so sad about that show…I really enjoyed it in a trashy guilty pleasure kind of way.

For me, favorite shows of 2012 were (no particular order):
    Parks and Recreation
    Hell on Wheels
    Game of Thrones
    Once Upon A Time
    Workaholics
    Go On
    Grimm
    Supernatural

I’m behind on Spartacus (haven’t watched it since Andy Whitfield died), but I’m hoping to catch up soon.
Also planning to start Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Boardwalk Empire.

I tend to go more for the less sophisticated shows because I am what I watch! I don’t have fancy cable and can’t stand violence soooo in order of the days they come on
    Once Upon a Time
    Castle
    Don’t Trust the B
    Arrow
30 Rock – which I’m going to really really miss
    Scandal

Hahahaaa…the only reason I think about Grimm is because I know Chooch likes it.

    Parks and Rec
    30 Rock
    Modern Family
    Boardwalk Empire
    Dexter
    Gossip girl (sad it’s over)
    Pretty little liars
    Lying game
    Boss

    Too many reality shows
