The Grammys: Who Broke the Rules!

I had my favorites that I was rooting for and was thrilled when Kelly Clarkson won for “Best Pop Vocal Album”. She was amazing last night. She sang Patti Page’s “Tennessee Waltz” and followed it up with Carole King’s “Natural Woman”. FABULOUS!  I could have listened to her all night!

“Someone toss me a roll of toilet paper!”

I will admit I was a tad upset that Adele won “Best Pop Solo Performance”, beating out Kelly, but then I saw what Adele was wearing in front of millions of people on LIVE TV and it didn’t matter that she’d just won the award. She had just made the “Worst Dressed” list! That was consolation enough.

“Pssst…. can you believe she wore her patio bench cover?”

Speaking of “Worst Dressed”, here are some of the ones I thought needed some explaining. I really don’t understand what these ladies were thinking when they left there homes or hotel rooms to go in front of CAMERAS!

 

Bonnie McKee looks likes she’s signed on to do the next Dr. Who. As for the B-52′s Kate Pierson, she’s a giant purple people eater! Both of these ladies would do great in a sci-fi movie.

 

Lisa D’Amato looks like she’s going to a gay Oktoberfest! I DO love the skirt, it’s just the top, mostly those sleeves that ruins everything. Adele’s frumpy carpet bagger frock is so old fashioned and unflattering to her body. It’s embarrassing to look at. Why would anyone let her wear this? It was sooo stiff, when she walked, it didn’t move. It was like her grand-mum used all of the starch she had to keep it crisp! To top it off, the SHOES even matched!

 

Kimbra, with Gotye, seems to have determined that tulle, lots and lots of tulle, stuck in all the places CBS said should be covered, will give her gown a “PG” rating. Too bad it ruined the dress. On the other hand, Beyonce couldn’t be bothered to dress up. She just stopped by on her way to the supermarket… camel-toe and all!

“It’s a note from Justin Bieber!”

Since we’re talking about Gotye and Kimbra, they got the thrill of a lifetime when Prince appeared on stage to announce the winner of “Record of the Year”. When he opened the envelope he said, “I love this song!” He then announce the winner… Gotye and Kimbra: “Somebody I Used To Know”. The two came on stage and were visibly star-struck by his presence, thanking him for influencing them early in their career.

    There was no Chris Brown/Frank Ocean rematch, but did you see that Chris Brown was the one person in the theater that wasn’t giving Frank Ocean a standing ovation as he crossed RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM to accept the award? Of course. Douchebag. UGH

    There is something up with JT’s face on the red carpet picture. He kinda looks like Harry Potter. Is he already dipping into the botox?

    I’m not usually a J-Lo fan and didn’t love her dress, but I did laugh when she came out in the dress and said “so I read the memo.”

    Overall, I thought the performances were quite good. I didn’t watch it all so I will go back and watch LL’s performance at the end, but I heard he put on quite a show.

    Also, I love that Kelly Clarkson is still just an awkward girl. Her acceptance speech cracked me up.

    Johnny Depp just looks like an idiot. Adele obviously fired her stylist and needs to do so again. Hated J-Lo’s dress, Beyonce looks like she forgot where she was going. I loved Rhianah’s dress but can’t seem to get past her and Chris Brown, it’s just too gross.
    As usual chooch I agree with everything you wrote!!

    I look forward to this recap everytime there is an Award’s Show.I feel so fashionable when you agree with me.

    The Ellen, Portia and Katey caption really made me LOL and I am not normally a LOL’er.

    I thought Rhianna looked like a china doll. Before you made me focus on her forehead!

    Taylor looked awful in her gladiator get up. But then again, if Taylor Swift rescued a drowning kitten I probably still wouldn’t like her even if she was wearing something fab when she did it.

    Taylor Swift needs to go the F$#@ away. Love JT but this time around not so much, he’s looking like a game show host these days with way too much makeup on.

    I tuned in to watch, just in time to year Taylor’s m/f’ing “we will never ever yada yada yada” If I never ever hear that song again, I will be blessed.

    I didn’t watch the Grammy’s but love this recap, it sums up everything. Please tell me we are going to get this same type of recap after the Oscars.

    I’m on the fence about Rhianna. What people do in their own relationships is their own business. However, Rhianna has become someone that is in the public eye and a lot of girls look up to. This is where is gets bad. She is telling these girls (and some women) that being in an abusive relationship (not just mentally but physically) is okay. Both Chris and Rhianna (especially since she got back together with him) are always going to be remembered for the physical abuse that happened. There are famous people out there who do not exposes every aspect of their personal lives and they are happy. But then there are publicity hungry celebs who show it all, then get mad and think their privacy is being violated. You can’t have both.

    I honestly think that Kanye released (aka tipped paparazzi off) those photos of him and kim in Brazil to have it look like he was better than the Grammy’s (or that he was upset he wasn’t invited).

    Angelina’s leg was ridiculous at the Oscars last year, but it was semi okay because the slit did not go all the way up to her crotch. J-Lo’s leg was dumb. It looked bad, not because it looked like a normal woman’s leg, but because the entire leg was out. And yes, I totally agree, her entire look (head to toe) was something I would expect kim k to be wearing.

    CBS released that memo the week before the Grammy’s. That is not fair to any of the women. Some of these gowns/dresses/outfit have been in the planning/making stages for weeks. So to announce right before that they might have to wear something else is a little mean.

    Kanye was nominated for Ni**as in Paris. He would have been invited to the event. For whatever reason he just decided not to go.
