The Playboy Club is the first to go from NBC‘s new lineup. The Parents Television Council likes to think they had a big hand in the cancelation–and maybe they did, or maybe the show just sucked? Either way, the show is a goner. I wonder who’s next on that list?

On the flip side, Whitney and Up All Night got full-season pickups. Sounds like Whitney is killing it these days–between Whitney and 2 Broke Girls, she’s about to start sitting on a pile of money soon.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Whitney’s laugh track is so freakin’ annoying..I don’t care if she claims that it’s taped in front of a studio audience. I hate that show!

I hope Free Agents can hold on.

Guess Gloria Steinem is happy about Playboy Club.

Buy why Whitney?! I haven’t really seen the appeal of the show.

Poor Playboy Club! The acting is absolutely terrible, but it’s fun in a soapy way. Guess I’ll have to stick to Revenge and Ringer for that! Hope they don’t get the axe, too.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen any of them. I have them downloaded on my iPad and have to play catch up. I’ve been so busy trying to finish working on Most Eligible, that TV has taken a back seat. I’ve barely watched any scripted–Good news is that I’ve been keeping up with reality.

@Classy Drunk – i downloaded Whitney pilot on iTunes b/c it was free. I also downloaded Free Agents, Pan Am (ABC) and a few others. I haven’t tried the NBC app yet, have you tried it yet?? I’ll download it today if you think it’s good. Also, I know w/ Whitney they’re streaming the episodes on yahoo for free the day before it airs.

@Nads, the NBC app is good (and free). Just make sure to use your wi fi for streaming and it has all the NBC shows. Although I don’t believe you can download them. ABC offers the same app.

I don’t understand why laugh tracks are even used anymore…..they are annoying and I don’t need the show to “tell” me when to laugh! Two Broke Girls (also created by Whitney) is decent but it too has a distracting and unnecessary laugh track.

I was wondering if either Whitney had a laugh track or if they promised the jolliest bunch of homeless people a shower and a hot meal if they would just watch the show first and laugh after every line.

Actually, it must be a laugh track – a shower and a hot meal isn’t worth laughing at every single line.

I haven’t taken to too many of the new shows…except for Revenge. I’m watching Tera Nova and Pan Am, but I’m not thrilled with either so far.

Pan Am is great! Terra Nova sucks the big one. I would’ve prefered to see that one go first, but since I don’t really care about Playboy Club, either, I guess it makes no difference.

I can’t get through 2 Broke Girls b/c of that damn laugh track. It weirdly doesn’t bother me on Big Bang Theory, though. Maybe it’s b/c 2BG sounds closer to canned laughter than a live studio audience?

Whitney is absolutely terrible. And bad. It feels so dated

I’m bummed The Playboy Club got cancelled, it was a victim of a bad time slot and not really given a chance. It was a fun and campy show that you didn’t have to take seriously. I think Whitney or Free Agents should’ve gotten the boot before this did.

Besides, what did NBC expect putting a new series up against Castle and Hawaii Five-O? I hope another network picks up the remaining episodes.

I agree w/ y’all, the Whitney laugh track sucks donkey balls and was actually the reason why I stopped watching after episode one. I am loving Pan Am and Revenge as well. I think they’ll stick around.

Like 2 days before this was posted I SWEAR I read an article that said NBC wasn’t going to cancel Playboy Club and Free Agents just b/c they were getting low ratings…so much for that!
