The Real Housewives Of New York Ratings Slipping

Sadly our Real Housewives of NYC ladies aren’t bringing in the ratings these days. Their viewership is down 22% in the demographic, and that’s not good because those are the numbers the network really pays attention to. An insider told The NY Daily News, “The new girls don’t seem to be working, and Bravo is concerned.” The article is blaming Miss Andy for the crappy ratings because he’s not as involved this season. Personally, I don’t think it’s Miss Andy’s fault, I think it has a lot to do with us (the audience) caring about the new cast members enough to watch them.

As much as I hate crazy Jill, I do miss her from the series this season. Maybe they should reconsider dropping the crazies that actually work and are watchable.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I can’t watch these shows. These people are disgusting, with their over-the-top plastic surgery, and their petty bourgeois problems. Then again, I couldn’t watch Jerry Springer, or any of that ilk.

I myself became obsessed with the Vancouver Housewives for many reasons. First off they actually know each other accept for one and she is the bestest. NYC pales in comparison.

Very boring season so far. I think it was a mistake to get rid of 4 housewives at once and add 3 new ones. As much as Kelly and Jill sucked at life, at least people knew them.

It’s only 3 episodes in, though. We’ve all seen the commercials of what’s to come this season and I think it is going to turn out to be great. Ramona on WWHL last night said that there was lots of fighting in Puerto Rico. I think it has been a bit boring so far because they have to let everyone get to know these new girls and the new girls are just getting to know the veterans so there isn’t much to fight about yet. They aren’t going to start fighting with strangers right out of the gate.

Getting rid of so many at once created two problems for me. One, it highlighted the unreality of the shows (I know they’re not really real, but I don’t like having it rubbed in my face that the producers control everything) and two, it made me think twice about getting invested in anyone. I don’t feel like watching a season long audition. Usually I’m embarrassed to find myself getting sucked in to these shows after promising myself not to watch anymore. But here I am three episodes in and I’m happy just reading the recaps. Guess I’m not alone.

If Jill had been back this season, I wouldn’t have watched. She makes my stomach churn.

Meh, I stopped watching anything housewives a couple seasons ago. I almost got sucked back in this season on OC but after watching 5 minutes I knew it was not meant to be. I’ll stick with the recaps, they’re far more entertaining.

I agree….I don’t like Jill but having her, Simon, and Alex on were my comic relief (didn’t really notice Kelly). Maybe I’ll give it another episode or two but I really only watched because I ‘knew’ the people, and like someone else said, I don’t think I want to bother trying to interest myself in another group.

    These bitches.

I quit watching after the first episode this season. The new girls are boring and too many of them. I can’t spend another minute listening to the Cuntess and the Drunk arguing about what the hell ever they argue about. And if I see another old saggy granny part hanging out of Sonya’s clothes I think I’ll put my eyes out with a butter knife.

At this point, I’d watch a show with KraKra Kelly, Jill and Silex over these over-the-hill boring hags.

Excellent points all—- As much as I Kelli irritated me, I have some investment in her cray-cray.

And Jill also—never thought I’d be nostalgic for her screaching “BBaawwwwwbbyyyyyy” and expecting him to fight her battles.

But I am going to give this season a try– I like Carole (Jeepers-A real live Princess!!!!– Take that LUANN) and Heather is growing on me (dodging shoes).

What the hell– I have a totally filled wine rack (I belong to a few wine clubs–well 6 is a few right?? Guidice math). Buckle me in–I will see these bitches thru.

I was a diehard fan. I watched 15 minutes of the first episode and stopped. Boring. I was totally not a team Jill person. I however did love to watch her self-implode. I really think Andy C. does not like Jill and he sacrificed the franchise (RHNYC) to give her the walking papers. In a way I applaud him but with that decision also comes the end of some serious viewing fun.

@14 Hle— that’s a good point. Andy may have dumped Jill b/c she is so irritating.

Could the reason for the show lacking viewers is that RHNJ is getting so much attention?? I know I have to watch NJ at least twice b/c of all the craziness going on: its hard to keep track of it all.

Well, it could be HW overkill right now. For a couple of weeks we had Kim’s Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding, RHONY, RHONJ and RHOOC at the same time. People probably tuned in to see the new cast but checked out because of the clutter. Kim’s over. I think the last episodes of NJ and OC are coming up this week, or next anyway. All that’s left will be RHONY. Perhaps the viewers will wander back when things clear out.

I think a lot of fans are boycotting the show in alligence to it’s fallen few. I do miss Jill and Alex. I wish they would have left the show alone or taken them all out. I feel like by watching now I am giving my approval to drunky drunk and miss bad manners. I can hardly stomach either of them. But I continue to watch and hope that the new girls will grow on me and Bravo shows both Ramona and LuAnn (honest to God a baby? Really?) the door for next season. I would prefer a complete fresh start.
