The Real Housewives of Orange County Season Opener, Thoughts?

RHOOC cast

The Housewives series that started it all came back last night. And as we all know, we can’t judge a series, or a season by the first episode, but it looks like this season is going to be pretty explosive. I have a few things to say, but then I’ll bail on this so you guys can read the real recap.

Some thoughts and favs:

-Has Gretchen NOT gotten over the sh*t that happened last season? She needs to get a hold of herself, and lay off the booze. And what was up with her face?? New cheeks? What was it? I’m still trying to figure it out.

-Tamra on Gretchen, “All I could think about is throwing my wine in her face, but I thought: ‘No, that b-tch isn’t worth a good glass of wine.’

-I want to meet Tamra’s new boyfriend, Eddie! Single Tamra means more story lines! Loving this! She’s still atrocious white-trash, but I love to hate her. Her trying to furrow her brows wearing Jessica Simpson shoes on WWHL was pretty damn funny.

-I kind of loved that Gretchen said that she wasn’t dating Slade for the money. Well, at least she’s honest. He’s such a leech.

-Side thought: With Vicky being the last Housewife standing on O.C., how much do you think she’s making? I swear if Gina could have just stuck with it last season, she could have been making some reality cash by this year.

I’m curious to see how this season unfolds. I’m in it…

Thoughts on last night?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Did I mishear of did the G-Bitch actually say in one of her talking heads that she’s finished being a goldigger, that she’s going to focus on being a successful businesswoman. (She said it. She said goldigger. She said it Kyle!) If she owned it why is she so pissed that people are saying it? Maybe she just like Tamra cuz she doesn’t want to end up like her…bitter and trashy. Dunno. But, it does seem like it’s going to be full of bitchery.

It was a bit meh for me, but I did like seeing Duckie McTits (alexis)with the kids, sans nannies. I laughed an evil laugh, even though she was not as unbearable as she was last season. Gretchen…let it go and for God’s sake, you and the tequila need to divorce already. Tamra, still the white trash bitch in heels – but without Simon in the picture, that trash is gonna soar. Vicki..ugh…does that “I work so hard” song ever end? And countdown for Don doing a runner in ten, nine, eight…
The new girls? I will have to see the next episode or two before I can say more than “hottie lesbian” and “the other blonde bitch”.

This is my second favorite RH series besides NYC. Which is depressing when you think about it but all the other ones are so boring. Tamra amuses me by her self-righteous BS. It only proves she is the most ignorant, which isn’t really that hard to prove on the Real Housewives anyway.

I hope we get lots of footage of Duckie McTits (love the name LAC!) trying to raise her children without assistance. And of her being generally dumb. A-Mex anyone?

Could I just say here Nads that I wish for the old days of the Forums. If I put my thoughts here I really feel a betrayal of the ‘otherside’ of the site. I honestly feel it is not promoted enough and is neglected by the ‘powers that be’
The old guard peeks in but with drive by commenting here… why bother to take the time to enter a relationship and commit to the forums. The ease to say what you feel.. insult..not engage anything but your own agenda on the comments here are getting old.. kinda wash rinse repeat for me.
The link and last Forums comment posted has even been removed from the front page so people have no clue. So instead of asking HERE for comments… why don’t YOU try to redirect to the Forums and help revive the dead zone…. PLEASE.

I second the more love for the forums drive! Commenting on the recaps is lots of fun, but it’s even more fun when there’s an active forum discussion too.

I’m not sure I understand what Giffordsaz is requesting. That Nads research and write articles for Newsgasm but send posters elsewhere to comment on them? I don’t really see the point in that.

I use the forums, and even begun a thread myself, but I find that only the shows that inspire commentary all week long will get an active thread (American idol, Survivor, Big Brother). Unless there is a ‘no spoiler’ rule, where people then use the forums to not give anything away until the new recap appears, it seems most posters prefer to wait for the recaps to comment.

I wouldn’t say his was anyone’s fault and I’m not sure it’s promotion that will change it. i think it just depends on the show. When Big Brother comes back on, that forum thread will be active again.

As far as general chat area, the only active thread has been the one about the weather. I say, it you want to generate more traffic, start some interesting threads that people feel compelled to post on. Is a Charlie Sheen thread up yet?

Charlie Sheen sucks and before the front page was redone we had links to the forums and “last comments” posted on the front page from the forums.. Nads and Flipit know exactly what I mean. I wasn’t about how many pages people clicked on for advertisers.. It was something different.

Well, I’m not as cynical as Gifford, but it was nice having the forum alerts on the front page.

But yes, the forums were much more active before TVgasm’s menopause, er, I mean, format change. And it’s easier to have a conversation in the forums than in the comments area (not to mention there’s an editing function in the forum and none of this annoying captcha nonsense).

I do think that it’s easier to have a conversation with others on the forums rather than the comments.

Also you can wander off topic in the forums, but not so much in the comments.

awww my captcha code is druk…this is going to be a good day.

Agreed that it is sad that the forums have slooooowed down a bunch, but I do like seeing a lot of comments on recaps cuz after all, that’s what the writers here work for. Starting today, in all the About Last Night articles, I’ll put a link to the forums for each show written about. Also, it would be fun to do a Commentgasm type thing with forum posts. When they ramp up again, we’ll start combing them for funny stuff and do an article every once in awhile to drive traffic over there.
