Ricki-Lake

Ricki Lake is going to make her daytime return! Her new daytime show is development, and they’re aiming for a fall 2012 launch!

Twentieth Television’s SVP of programming and development said, “Ricki is a pop culture icon who has built a career on her candid, straight talk sensibility and her authentic, relatable nature. With an enormous fan base, that represents all ages and ethnicities, we are thrilled to develop a daytime talk show emphasizing Ricki’s fresh and enhanced perspective.”

I’m SOOO excited about Ricki’s possible return. If anyone can make a big splash and deserves a spot on daytime it’s Ricki. The market is so saturated with new sh*tty talk shows, and all of them are clones of one another. It’ll be nice to see a familiar face back on our TV screens. Here’s to the O.G. of talk!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Well I don’t know that I would refer to her fan base as “enormous”…she has reduced it considerably over the years…

you’re right about her fan base reducing…but she was good at her job. I think her old fans will come back, and she’ll make some new ones with her return.

She was like the female Jerry. I loved her!

Didn’t she host that Rock of Love: Charm School thing a few seasons back? She still had the charisma to pull off a talk show. Now that her children are older and she needs to get a college fund together, I’m not mad at her for returning to what she knows and is good at.

@ Nads, I saw Ricki more as a female Donahue, IMHO, she had explosive topics for the sake of conversation and not simply to exploit the guests. Hopefully, her new talk show will be more of the same and with her name recognition, it will be a success.

Ricky and I have had an on-again, off-again casual thing for years.

Her hair reminds me of a warm, safe place where as I child I’d hide…

@Derek Hazelton- you’re absolutely right. She never exploited her guests like Jerry does.

and yes, she did host Rock of Love: Charm School. She replaced Sharon Osbourne!
