For those of you who have DirecTV, you can have your MTV back because the 10-day contract dispute is over. DirecTV has restored all 26 Viacom channels back. That includes: Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, CMT, Logo, Spike, TV Land, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, Palladia, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, TeenNick, Tr3s and Centric.

At least their dispute was able to resolve faster than the NBA lockout. Those guys were just stubborn.

Viacom’s statement:

NEW YORK, July 20, 2012 – Viacom today announced that the company has reached a long-term agreement to renew carriage with DIRECTV.

All 26 Viacom networks, including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, CMT, Logo, Spike, TV Land, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, Palladia, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, TeenNick, Tr3s and Centric, will return to DIRECTV’s channel lineup immediately.  As part of the overall carriage agreement, DIRECTV has an option to add the EPIX service to its entertainment offerings.

Viacom is extremely pleased to bring its programming back to DIRECTV subscribers, and thanks everyone affected by the disruption for their patience and understanding during this challenging period.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

HA! We have Dish, and during their contract disputes with Fox and then NBC, DirectTV was running ads which basically said, “See what you get with Dish? Blacked-out channels that you are paying for. Don’t pay for blacked-out channels, getDirectTV instead.”

I get DirecTV and I have to say I was alarmed at the things Dish was getting rid of, crankyguy!

@maryedith, I’m not a Dish fanboy, I just thought it was funny about DirectTV in light of those commercials. I haven’t noticed anything going away lately other than Sundance Channel and it wasn’t in hi-def even when I had it. What else are they dumping that you know of?

@maryedith, I googled it and saw that it was the channels affiliated with AMC. That really doesn’t affect my viewing habits. I’m glad to see the carriers standing up to these content providers since some of them aren’t above demanding increases of 100% or more.
