Fox is really putting The X Factor on the map by offering a $5 million Sony Music record deal to the winner, making it “the largest guaranteed prize in television history.” That’s an insane prize. With that kind of money, the winner is sure to be succesful. If not it’ll be a HUGE FAIL on The X Factor.

The show’s set to premiere this fall, and auditions are supposed to start on March 27th. Us Weekly reported that they’ll let contestants as young as 12-years-old to compete. Simon said, “I like the idea that a 12-year-old on this show can compete with an older singer and a singing group. I’ve never believed there should be a cut-off age for talent, and we are going to put our money where our mouths are with the $5 million recording contract.”

If you’re interested in auditioning, here’s a link to The X Factor facebook page to get more info.

This show is certainly setting itself up to one-up Idol in a big way. I’m getting excited.

Here’s the Super Bowl spot from last night:

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Give the winner as much money as they want, but Simon’s idea of “star quality,” much like his wardrobe, is anachronistic and horribly dated. He was the only one who couldn’t see past her size to realize Jennifer Hudson was a star in the making, and he generally pushes for the Leona Lewises who are pretty girls with pretty voices.

You can’t really find the next big thing if you’re just looking for the next Beyonce. She’s already here.
