Did you guys watch the AMAs last night? I was actually totally impressed. I’ve pulled some in case you missed it moments for you guys. I wasn’t able to cover all, just the ones that stood out to me (hopefully the videos don’t get taken down)…
Let’s get started:
Jay-Z, and Alicia Keys‘ Empire State of Mind made me want to hop back on the plane I just got off of and move to New York. I know this is going to sound corny, but I’ve never felt so inspired from watching a performance on TV. Maybe it’s because I just got back from New York this past Saturday, and I miss it…but whatevs…it was amazing:
Lady Gaga‘s performance was very Gagaesque–broken glass, lights, and of course very dark…I know that Gaga is not for everyone, but I loved her performance. It was eye-opening to say the least. Here’s a teaser clip:
And, Whitney Houston–she was amazing last night, and was back in a BIG way. I’m still really not a fan, but I can appreciate a comeback…
Adam Lambert: Ehhhh. I was expecting more. He’s been giving apologies for his racy performance last night, but that’s not what bothered me. It’s the song he chose for his first single, For Your Entertainment–weird choice, right? It’s a little too Broadway. I know I was his biggest supporter during Idol, so maybe my expectations are too high–but for now, he has to prove himself a little more.
Here’s his performance:
Let’s get to the trainwreck of the evening:
J.Lo. OMG, what the hell was she wearing? What the hell was she doing? And, why? I hope she gives Christian Louboutin an apology for embarrassing his brand with her horrendous song at the AMAs. It was just plain bad all around.
Here’s her performance (this is the only replacement video I could find that won’t be removed):
Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I live on the west coast, so thanks for the video of JLo busting her ass. I wondered what the slow-mo thing was they showed here…didn’t seem to make sense at the time and now I know why!
Did you notice Carrie Underwood was wearing one of Carol Hannah’s dresses from the PR finale during her performance? It was the first dress CH sent down the runway, except she made shorts instead of a skirt.

I’m on the west coast too, but of course was on my computer googling everything as I was watching…so i watched the J.Lo thing online. While googling, I also found out that Adam Lambert’s oral sex was edited from the west coast feed.
AND TOTALLY didn’t notice the Carrie Underwood thing–thanks for the heads up! Nice one!!! She looked great last night! Is it just me, or did she seem to be channeling Gwen Stefani during her performance?
Thanks marijai!!

@marijai: I noticed that Carrie Underwood was wearing CH’s design right away, too. She looked great.
Nads, umm, yeah I’m not impressed at all by Adam’s choice for a first single. Way too cabaret. Like a dinner show at a place in West Hollywood. But I think that’s Adam just showcasing the real (check out pre-Idol youtube videos to see what I mean); all that rock god posturing he did on AI was to garner viewer support.
I had to fast-forward through J-Lo’s performance, but since I’m on the West Coast I’m glad I didn’t miss anything. Thanks for posting that, hopefully, she’ll rethink a comeback.
As for Whitney, she doesn’t do it for me anymore. Up to this point, I’ve been a life-long Whitney fan, but the image of her on the toilet asking for Bobby’s, ah, “help” will never really allow me to appreciate her on stage ever again. Then, of course, her sweating is distracting too. Poor Whitney.
Oh, I loved Jay-Z and Alicia’s performance. That song just makes me wanna hop on the next fight to NYC every time. Shoot, I can’t listen to it without crying.

Also….I kind of felt bad for Kris Allen…he is the newest “American Idol” and Adam gave a performance that will be talked about for days, while Kris only presented.
Hmmm….wonder if this is a sign his 15 minutes are almost over, before he even gets started.

Yes, I saw that….and saw this morning that Adam’s appearance on Good Morning America was cancelled. According to ABC, after his performance Sunday night, they thought it may be a bit much for a morning TV show. Guess ABC forgot he confirmed his sexuality on their network!
