The Hills: Kristin Cavallari Admits It’s Fake

Well, we all know that The Hills is fake, and The LA. Times did an interesting article on Kristin Cavallari and her triumphant return to The Hills admitting that it’s fake. Hopefully she didn’t get in a lot of trouble for outing the “reality” show…

Here’s a “best-of” from the article:

She said, “I pretty much do anything they have me do because I don’t care,” she said. “I mean, we’re filming a TV show. Let’s make it interesting. Let’s have a good time with it…They tell us what to talk about…Listen, I have fun with it. They film ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ the same way.

The thing is, if this was a reality show about my life, they would follow me going to auditions and studying with acting coaches, but they didn’t want to show that because it’s not glamorous…They make it seem like we have perfect lives and like we have all this money…Everyone is trying to get story lines and create drama in their lives. It’s just so…fake. There’s no truth to it. At all.”

About MTV doing Laguna Beach: “I almost felt like it was unfair for [MTV] to come into our lives at such a young age and sort of mess with things,” she said. “I don’t regret it, but I was 17 — of course I wanted to be on TV. I felt like they should have been a little bit more careful with us.”

I’m so happy that she’s come out and outwardly admitted that it’s all fake. I wonder if MTV gave her grief about her honesty as I know they sign iron clad contracts with their cast members to keep their mouths shut. I’m totally over The Hills, but I’ll certainly watch the first episode for Kristin’s big return.

This show rubs me the wrong way, its neither reality show nor sitcom…. is it a ‘faux reality show’ ?

We need to invent a new word for a scripted show that has horrible writing and acting.

Shitcom maybe? tho it’s very light on comedy.
