tim gunn gagaSuck it, Gaga!

Man, I’m loving Tim Gunn these days even more than I already do. He was on Lopez Tonight last night and was commenting on Gaga’s VMA meat dress. He said, “I respect Lady Gaga and her work, but we’ve been here before…So, Lady, it’s been done … be more creative.”

meat dress

Wow, no holds barred Gunn is on fire. Again, I love his honesty. Gaga did make a bold choice wearing real meat, but sometimes I’m like “OK GAGA, we get it. You love your fans, we’re treated like pieces of meat, you’re for the underdog, the freaks, can we move on already?? Bjork did after her swan dress.”

You know, after rethinking Gaga’s dress, I’m wondering what Ellen thought of her dress. Gaga was on her VMA show, and I can’t imagine Queen Vegan Ellen was too happy with marbled meat on set.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Am I the only one who thinks that Tim Gunn needs his own show a la Liz Lemon (Tina Fey’s character on 30 Rock) after she let loose with her “That a deal breaker ladies”? I want a show that is all, “straight talk with tim gunn”.

@kesthemess You are not alone! I think we should try to think up some more names for this show. I like “Under the Gunn”, “Gunn’s Blazing”, “On Target with Tim Gunn”, “Tim Gunn: Straight Shooter”, and “Misfires with Tim Gunn”.

I love Tim Gunn….and HATE Lady Tranny-Gaga and her constant “look-at-me,look-at-me” constant attention-seeking (and no, I don’t think her music is all that, sorry.)

Doesn’t Tim Gunn have a show (other than Project Runway?) He’s pure gold!!

Weird. I was sure Tim was old enough to remember what people in their 40s & 50s used to say about the Beatles back in the mid 60s.

@bahurupiya: Did they used to say, “It’s been done. Get more creative”?

Seriously, didn’t Tyra have the girls pose with raw meat on ANTM? If Tyra’s done it, it hardly seems cutting edge.

Although she did do blackface, and now that is the big controversy from the VMAs with Will.i.am. Could it be that Tyra IS a trendsetter?

Speaking of that, if Gaga REALLY wanted to be controversial and attract attention, blackface would have done it, albeit tastelessly and offensively.

@Caito: I love the titles! Gunn’s Blazing and Misfires with Tim Gunn are my faves.

@Pixielated: Did people really care that Will.I.Am was in blackface. I only cared that he wanted us to care which then made me not care. But I didn’t read any news on it or backlash. Perhaps, no one noticed. (oooooh, snap!)

@sarcas: I did hear it mentioned in passing, but it’s not half so “shocking” when a black dude does it. Although they did used to do it in the minstrel shows.

It is funny, though, that after Tyra did that blackface thing on ANTM, a couple of fashion mags did it and oh, my, what a reaction!

True. When black people do blackface… it’s called makeup. lol

However, I think the first time I saw it in fashion was many years ago at a Viktor & Rolf show. All the models were painted ebony black, the same shade as the clothes, the way Will.I.am coordinated with his outfit. But there wasn’t much backlash because they weren’t portraying Black people at all, and especially dissimilar to portrayal of Black people in minstrel shows with the big red lips and exaggerated features.
But, I guess there still is a sensitivity where some people wonder if they are being mocked or ridiculed so I guess that’s why some protested Tyra and the fashion mags.

Speaking of which..I’m just waiting for the cow-led march to protest the mockery Lady Gaga has made of cows everywhere. Not only did she murder their brothers and sisters needlessly..she wore their skin as a dress. Lady Gaga is the bovine KKK!
