Friday, August 3

Olympic Fun Fact: The last year that Olympic gold medals were made out of solid gold was 1912. The current standard for a gold medal is that it must be at least 92.5% silver and plated with a minimum of 6 grams of gold. Minting the Olympic medals is the responsibility of the host city.

XXX Summer Olympics (NBC 8pm) From London. Swimming, finals: men’s 100m butterfly, men’s 50m freestyle, women’s 200m backstroke, women’s 800m freestyle; track and field: men’s shot put final; diving: women’s springboard; volleyball, women’s: USA vs. Serbia; trampoline: men’s.

Hasn’t Michael Phelps won all the medals yet? Now it’s just becoming mean to the other competitors.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown! (SyFy 8pm) Mr. McMahon’s shocking announcement regarding SmackDown’s new General Manager.

Just kidding!

20/20 (ABC 9pm) Four unique billionaires share how they became successful; getting free sperm from the Internet.

Free sperm from the internet? What could possibly go wrong?

Fashion Police (E! 9pm) No episode description

So here is a picture of a bulldog dressed as a cave man.

You Live in What? (HGTV 9pm) A cliff-side home over a waterfall; a house made of cargo containers; Brazilian rain forest home; whale-shaped abode.

Here’s hoping they use the blowhole as a chimney; otherwise, I shudder to think what happens when they flush.

Say Yes to the Dress (TLC 9pm) Episode: NFL Brides

I bet none of those NFL players look as pretty in a dress as Dennis Rodman.

3 Days to Open with Bobby Flay (The Food Network 10pm) An upscale comfort food lounge; no head chef; forgettable cocktails; six-figure debt.

Rethink your life choices? No way! Bobby Flay and the Food Network are here to provide a momentary feeling of security and success. Before the restaurant owners finally fold, they’ll be able to get that debt into seven figures, no problem.

Real Life: The Musical (OWN 10pm) Episode: A Real High School Musical

So much for Giles putting that talisman in a safe place after he took it away from Xander.

Doug Stanhope: Before Turning the Gun on Himself (Showtime 10pm) The comic discusses prostitution, Alcoholics Anonymous and rehab therapy.

I’m not sure these topics are okay to make fun of except for on South Park.

Lost Girl (SyFy 10pm) Bo goes under cover as a high school teacher to investigate a case, and Kenzi regrets offering to help.

Dude, it’s high school. My motto is, once you get out, stay out!

What will you be watching tonight?

About

After giving birth to her fourth child, SuburBint carefully weighed the options and decided that recapping reality TV was probably a better choice in the long run than alcoholism. Liver function tests have yet to confirm the wisdom of this decision. Being an honest-to-goodness recapper is also a dream come true, as she has aspired to do this ever since discovering that such a thing existed way back in 2002.

Her favorite shows of all time include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Coupling, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Firefly, Community, Parks and Recreation, Doctor Who, and Veronica Mars. She can also quote The Big Lebowski in its entirety, and will do so with little to no provocation.

@ SSC — check your email.

@ Detinha — glad you’re enjoying the Olympic factoids! I’m learning tons myself. I had no idea that minting the medals was done by the host city, I always assumed that the Olympic Committee was in charge of that.

I’m starting to think Michael Phelps isn’t human. When does he rest?

I am so over Phelps! I am glad that he has stated that this is his last Olympics. I kind of think that he Peaked in Bejing. He seems to not care this time around….I am glad to see that some of other Americans are doing so well. Nathan Adrian is from Washington State, and I thought he did awesome! He is one that I will root for in Rio. I will also root for Missy Franklin. She is 17 and starts her senior year of High School in 2 weeks. She was pretty amazing lastnight. I just wish that swimming wasn’t the first whole week!!

Also so happy about womens gymnastics!! But I have to say, that I don’t think we will see these girls again in Rio. Gymnasts peak early. It is my assumption that Jordyn won’t be in Rio. But then again they would be pushing 20 by that time….(yeah watched way to much Make it or Break it to know about when a gymnast would peak!!)
