Friday, August 31
In the wee hours of August 31, 1888, a 42 year-old English prostitute named Mary Ann Nichols was found dead in the Whitechapel neighborhood of London. She was the first known victim of Jack the Ripper.
America’s Next Top Model (The CW 8pm) The contestants take part in a challenge that leaves them hanging, and they pose for celebrity photographer Shenae Grimes; the first contestant is eliminated.
This is Shenae Grimes. That’s not going to be intimidating for the models at all.
Need to Know (PBS 8pm) Democratic National Convention; Democrats’ efforts in Ohio to win the white working class vote; convention speeches that boosted certain candidates to the nomination.
What I need to know is, why is there a Democratic National Convention when the President is running for re-election? And is it any more interesting and less sycophantic than the Republican National Convention? Never mind, that’s an obviously stupid question.
North Woods Law: On the Hunt (Animal Planet 8pm) ATV riders violate traffic laws, then make a break for it across rugged terrain; Warden Kim Bates searches for the person who mutilated a deer.
Or you could watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to watch Hagrid search for the person who’s been mutilating unicorns.
Dark Secrets of the Lusitania (The National Geographic Channel 9pm) An expedition ventures deep into the wreck of the Lusitania in a bid to get to the bottom of the century-old war crime.
I’m not really sure what secrets they think they will uncover, but at least it’s not the freaking Titanic again.
Boss (Starz 9pm) Kane’s growing infatuation with Mona leads him to get swept up in her desire for the redevelopment of a blighted housing project.
Now if that’s not sexy, I don’t know what is.
Tyler Perry’s For Better or For Worse (TBS 9pm) Richard’s bachelor party gets going only after Angela, Leslie and Jennifer leave.
That is quite possibly the stupidest premise for a sitcom episode that I have ever heard.
Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta (TLC 9pm) A bride’s mother tries to force her dress expectations on her daughter’s big day.
Oh look, it’s every episode of Say Yes to the Dress from anywhere, ever.
Strike Back (Cinemax 10pm) A wounded Othmani holes up with Markunda in a remote Algerian farmhouse; Scott and Stonebridge prepare for an assault by the forces of El Soldat.
I have no idea what any of that means.
Lost Girl (SyFy 10pm) The Ash takes action against a threat, forcing Bo to make a life-threatening decision; Bo can no longer ignore her destiny.
You know what this show needs? Jason Stackhouse.
I Found the Gown (TLC 10pm)
I know a guy in Portland who can help you really find a dress, if you’re willing to dig for it.
What will you be watching tonight?
If you like it, spread it!:
