Tonight’s Top 10 Shows: Friday, July 13

Watercooler

Friday, July 13

When I pulled up the zap2it.com TV listings page, just like I always do when writing this column, this is what I was met with. Even after refreshing the page. Twice. And it’s Friday the 13th. You may begin hearing the Twilight Zone music in your brain now.

Deadliest Catch (The Discovery Channel 8pm) Behind-the-scenes facts and tweets from the captains and crews; the icepack maintains its choke hold on the opilio grounds; a greenhorn learns a deadly lesson.

I’m guessing that the greenhorn in question was trying to tweet and pull the pots in at the same time. Social networking and crabbing don’t mix, folks.

Comic Store Heroes (The National Geographic Channel 8pm) Midtown Comics in New York City is the largest retailer of comic books, graphic novels, Manga and related collectibles in the country.

Whale Wars (Animal Planet 9pm) Sea Shepherd sends a helicopter out to identify a large mystery vessel on its radar, but the aircraft quickly disappears after reaching the limits of its fuel range.

This show sounds so very boring.

Ladyhawke (BBC America 9pm) A medieval pickpocket learns the secret of a brooding knight with a hawk, and a beauty with a wolf.

Michelle Pfeiffer will always be beautiful in 1985.

The Ricky Gervais Show (HBO 9pm) Finale: Karl reveals his observations on the insect world; Stephen recounts the embarrassment of buying condoms; excerpts from Karl’s diary.

Don’t you just love the way British people pronounce the word “condom?” Very distinct. Very precise. Very British.

The Goonies (The Hub 9pm) Coastal Oregon kids follow the treasure map of pirate One-Eyed Willie past his deadly traps to gold.

I wonder how many times they had to cut and take a break from filming because the actors couldn’t say “One-Eyed Willie” with a straight face?

Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse (TBS 9pm) Premiere: Angela doubts Marcus; Marcus is disappointed when he hears Angela doubted him; Tynik is renovating the salon.

So does Tyler Perry own TBS outright now, or…?

Say Yes to the Dress (TLC 9pm) Natalie hopes Kleinfeld will be her last stop; Amy sees herself as overweight; Elona’s gown is more than she ever imagined.

Why pay Kleinfeld prices when you can make a dress like this out of 4 rolls of toilet paper?

Louisiana Lockdown (Animal Planet 10pm) Lt. Col. Slater balances his prison duties with his responsibilities as a single father; former rodeo champ Cracker risks serious injury for another shot at glory; a local newspaper launches a smear campaign against Warden Cain.

I’m pretty sure this is only the second episode description for this show that has even hinted at anything actually animal related.

Common Law (USA 10pm) Wes and Travis investigate the shooting of a fellow officer.

Sure hope that couple’s counseling is working out for those guys.

What will you be watching tonight?

About

After giving birth to her fourth child, SuburBint carefully weighed the options and decided that recapping reality TV was probably a better choice in the long run than alcoholism. Liver function tests have yet to confirm the wisdom of this decision. Being an honest-to-goodness recapper is also a dream come true, as she has aspired to do this ever since discovering that such a thing existed way back in 2002.

Her favorite shows of all time include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Coupling, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Firefly, Community, Parks and Recreation, Doctor Who, and Veronica Mars. She can also quote The Big Lebowski in its entirety, and will do so with little to no provocation.

True. What can I say, my inner child is a 9-year-old boy.
