Friday, March 23

On this day in 1775, Patrick Henry delivered the “Give me liberty or give me death” speech.

2012 NCAA Basketball Tournament (CBS 7pm, 9:30pm) Xavier vs. Baylor, Indiana vs. Kentucky

I’m right in thinking that March Madness ends in March, yes?

Shark Tank (ABC 8pm) Beer-infused ice cream; pre-packaged meals for pets; safety wear for motorcycle enthusiasts; a clothing business that allows people to digitally add images to any garment; a follow-up with the creators of Ride On Carry On luggage.

I like beer. I like ice cream. I don’t think I would like them together.

Who Do You Think You Are? (NBC 8pm) Episode: Helen Hunt

I didn’t realize that they needed to pander to the insomniac audience this early on a Friday night.

Kitchen Nightmares (Fox 8pm) Chef Ramsay travels to Philadelphia to revive Chiarella’s, a family-owned Italian restaurant that has an outdated menu, a disorganized staff and sloppy service.

The Yelp reviews for this restaurant are almost all two stars… both before AND after Gordon Ramsay’s visit.

Fringe (Fox 9pm) After recent emotional events and shocking revelations, Peter considers his options; a killer targets love.

Team Fauxlivia!

Supernatural (The CW 9pm) Episode: The Born-Again Identity

This show is not shy with the punny episode titles.

The Ultimate Fighter Live (FX 10pm)

I’m guessing people are going to fight…? Ultimately?

Merlin (SyFy 10pm) Episode: The Sword in the Stone — Can smugglers help Arthur and Merlin escape when Morgana’s army attacks Camelot?

I’m starting to think that they just throw classical Arthurian phrases around willy-nilly to keep people tuning in.

Spartacus: Vengeance (Starz 10pm) Spartacus tries to convince his people to unite against the Roman assault; Lucretia struggles to be free from the men who threaten her fate.

Fun fact: when Lucy Lawless’s kids are being too rowdy in the car, she starts doing the Xena Warrior Princess yodel, and they chill right out.

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding (TLC 10pm) Premiere: Flamboyant wedding dresses including a pineapple and palm tree combo.

I really want to see these dresses on an episode of Drag Race.

What will you be watching tonight?

About

After giving birth to her fourth child, SuburBint carefully weighed the options and decided that recapping reality TV was probably a better choice in the long run than alcoholism. Liver function tests have yet to confirm the wisdom of this decision. Being an honest-to-goodness recapper is also a dream come true, as she has aspired to do this ever since discovering that such a thing existed way back in 2002.

Her favorite shows of all time include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Coupling, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Firefly, Community, Parks and Recreation, Doctor Who, and Veronica Mars. She can also quote The Big Lebowski in its entirety, and will do so with little to no provocation.

Long weekend away with *gasp* NO TV! Hope they rerun the gypsy wedding thing. Youtube has some great shots of gypsy weddings for those who just can’t get enough.

But… no TV means… no internet?! A weekend with no SSC comments? I’m not sure the ‘Gasm will survive!

Hope it is a purely for-fun trip, and that you have an awesome time!

You are the sweetest!!!!! We are just going up to our north woods cabin which is close enough to civilization to have 3G for the phone and ipad. Some of the things that seem like luxuries really aren’t when ya get the priorities straight.

I simply could not survive without TVgasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, snowshoe, I’m so glad you reminded me! As usual, I will summering at my retreat in the Berkshires. I must remember to tell my footman what to do in case someone tries to claim the bounty I still have on the head of Andy Cohen. If they bring it to the main house while I’m away… oh dear. Things could grow quite… odoriferous!

First, I would like to say that I wish I had TV just so I could watch TUF Live. Second, I will be home tonight and I am not bringing in any potatoes. Just sayin’.
